You lost $4..

Leave BTC and never return.. if you shit your pants over $4 Bitcoin is just not for you.

why tf are some of you well established forum members so hateful/arrogant towards new members who are just experiencing the same emotional stress as almost all of us did in the bitcoin past at some point ?   is that the path to get more users on the bitcoin rocket ?

Yes indeed, well said.

Instead of scaring away new people we should embrace/welcome them.

He lost some money for some people its a laugh but maybe hes a student or whatever and still a loss is a loss.

Learn from this, and read / investigate about markets before you put money in it.

Could be worse. At least you didn't lose everything to GOX, and neither went all in by selling your house 1 year and a half ago.

Unless you are in North Korea or other isolated country $4 won't make any difference for your wealth.

And you can invest your BTC or wait some recover, but doing so you could lose even more too

so $4 isn't much and yes I'm just a student , I asked for an advice here so I would know what to do if it was more money that's all and for god sake I'm still learning don't be harsh on me  Sad .

Edit: as a student I live with 3 other students in a rented room ,and  I can manage to live on $4 for two days with two meals every day ,so yeah.

If this is the truth speculation is nothing for you then...
should better finish your studies and get a permanent income which you the can use to speculate.

4$ for 2 days... oh boy mind to share where you are from?

And when we convince him to put in $500 and BTC drops to $100 and he comes here spewing out he has a laywer and is going to try to sue people for misguiding him.. what then?

I am not interested in getting users into BTC that are going to tell everyone how horrible it is and how it ruined their lives when they lose 50% of their investment that doesn't help us at all.

Bitcoin is an EXTERMELY risky investment.... if you need $4 for food and you are dumping $50 into BTC... I only see me being a complete dick as useful.  You need a big cup of wake up juice.

If you cannot afford to lose every single penny you put into BTC you shouldn't be touching it.

as I said before that $50 was the money I made online and will stay online  ,there is no way I can use it to buy food lol ,besides I'm not that poor my parents still support me and i have a part time job ,so I'll keep domping some money from time to time in bitcoin it's a small risk I'm ready to take ,for now I'll keep learning , untill I have a steady income then I'll go with bigger investment.

Thanks t every one that replied you guys are awesome  Cool Cool Cool

So I was able to make an income from the internet (wohoo) $50 in more than three months actually which is a good start since I'm a beginner I was very proud of myself ,until I saw that bitcoin was rising yesterday and I bought what I could buy with that $50 than I woke up today and voila an easy way to lose money.

should I sell and take the smallest damage or keep and risk of losing more ?

Dont sell, just hold it and enjoy the ride. You bought at a good time dont worry about that, current ~$290 after the dump is still a nice correction.

As a fellow broke-ass student, I'll share the two most important pieces of information I've learned so far:

Quote
1. Don't take anyone's word as truth - form your own conclusion after lots of research (you seem to understand this already Wink). By blinding following someone's advice, you could unknowingly be giving them all your money.

2. Only trade/buy/sell what you can afford to lose

I also put $50 into BTC when I had the money.  Shortly afterwards, I was injured and couldn't work, so I had to take it back out and convert into fiat (luckily I made $1 off the investment instead of losing anything). I did keep $5 of that $51 in BTC, bought some altcoin, did research, mined what I could, did more research, traded, did more research, and lost a lot because I didn't do enough research.  But now that $5 is $15 (was $20 at LTC peak)!

Either I lose it all and cope with the loss of $5 - or I play my cards right and continue to profit!!!

By the way - to answer your question, I would hold (unless you really need the money for school).  When it comes to this market, history tends to  repeat itself, in terms of highs and lows...

If you can afford to lose the cash IMO just hold UNLESS you have the time to day trade.

You could make some real profits day trading but you need a lot of time.

Sorry, I thought losing this cash would hurt you financially.

Dude its only $4. Take the loss and move on. Be thankful it was not 400 or 4000. The title is not deserving for $4.

If you follow the principle of hodl, you should be fine.

Exactly what I was gonna say. Members who have been here for a long while are being so arrogant and bitchy to new members who are just going through a new phase . There is nothing to be so pissed about .  The only way bitcoin is gonna have any more users is if it can trust bitcoin enough to go with it, and with shit like this people are of course gonna be disheartened. so calm down.

My first btc purchase ever was Dec 15th 2013. I had been watching if for a couple weeks after I learned about it. That morning the price went down to $700 after being at the $1000 top, so I bought 5 btc. At 3:00am my eyes popped open and I had a horrible feeling as I rushed to the computer, only to see the price at the absolute bottom of the dump - $377. I just saw half of $3500 evaporate, or so I felt.
Thank Christ it took Coinbase 5 days to give me the btc, in which time it had fully recovered to $700. With a sigh of relief I sold them immediately, then watched in anguish/disbelief as the price climbed back to $1k within a couple weeks.
That's a harrowing start, $4 ain't shit.

ohh dude, you lost literally nothing. you just bought bitcoin at higher price, than is today, nothing else. if you will wait enough (and for sure, less than 3 months), you will simply recover from this small mistake and even you get some nice profit. just wait little bit and relax. Kiss Kiss

Wouldn't it make more sense in your position to work for 2 hours instead of doing all this "research" just to make 1-2$ per trade ?

edit: Or sell your signature space. I mean, honestly...

No way, dude.

It's on the internet. This is a place where time stands still and $0.04 per hour from faucets et al is actually a superb use of one's ever pissing-away life force.

You should not invest (or gamble) the money you don't afford to lose. You already broke this rule.
You also don't have the guts to follow the movements and turn them into cash.

My conclusion would be that you should cash out as soon as you can and leave Bitcoin.
If (or when!) Bitcoin will get really big, you will hate me. But if you act like this after a 4$ lose, you will leave bitcoin sooner or later.
