lulz ppl still screwing with this? have ppl forgotten the first 6-8k blocks were mined by 2-3ppl with gpu miners? They spread out their coins now but when block explorer was first posted top 5 controlled over 95% and there was only one pool that had ~20%. Then dev out of nowhere made new ANN? PPl are crazy be warned orig ANN https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1116894.160Well if there had been a single gpu miner involved at launch i wasn't be able to mine it with setgenerate don't you think?

If you were involved at launch or can read English than you know already...shady. Lol man if you would keep the silence it would be better just check the original thread and see yourself who was at the launch

everything I said is accurate
... to your knowledge, except you don't know anything... (your interpretation of the block explorer is so inaccurate ) what option are you talking about (... dev never been even close to release a gpu miner, he took bmw512 from x11 (or quark ?) while his coin is running bmw256 and bmw256 is very different from bmw512... ), also I thought that the big miners at the beginning were gpu but they clearly aren't...

Hi Djm34 That is fair, I have no way of really proving otherwise. I guess its up to people if they want to take the risk. I'm no genius C++ programmer I'm more of an business application developer. So this might not be perfect but it works for me. For others who want to compile it themselves using Visual Studio 2013 without MingW: do a git clone https://github.com/ocminer/cpuminer-bmw
Then open the "cpuminer.sln" file. Make the following changes: in compat/cpuminer-config.h /* Define to 1 if you have <alloca.h> and it should be used (not on Ultrix). */ /* #undef HAVE_ALLOCA_H */
changed to (uncommented it): /* Define to 1 if you have <alloca.h> and it should be used (not on Ultrix). */ #undef HAVE_ALLOCA_H
In /miner.h Find this line: #undef USE_ASM /* to fix */
and add this below it: #undef HAVE_ALLOCA_H #undef HAVE_SYSLOG_H
and finally make sure you build for x64 as the curl libraries are 64 bit from what I understand.

None taken You are 100% correct to warn people and I would have done the same thing. I had trouble finding a windows version so this worked for me. I am still having issues with sgminer tho, it informs me its mining but when I check the pool it appears no results are coming through Here is my command: setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100 setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1 sgminer.exe --algorithm midnight -o stratum+tcp://mdt.suprnova.cc:5146 -u Maxus.user2 -p ****** pause Any ideas why it isn't showing up in the pool? I'm using a AMD R9 380

I'm using a AMD R9 380 If you are trying to use the miner the developer put up, it gives nothing but errors. The problem is that it is trying to hash BMW 512 instead of BMW 256. Or something like that. I have absolutely no idea who to code. I looked at the midnight.cl file to see if I could make sense out of it. But of course, it might as well be written in mayan hieroglyphics to me.

Ahhh, well that explains it. I think it might be out of my league but might take a look. Not sure why they put it up if its not working.

Ahhh, well that explains it. I think it might be out of my league but might take a look. Not sure why they put it up if its not working. I put it up because it gets us 90% of the way there, so that there is miner code with the algo switch already integrated and all someone has to do is tweak the midnight.cl kernel file to get it properly hashing with OpenCL on the gpu's, which doesn't require recompiling the executable, so someone can take it and work with it by modifying the .cl file and re-running the miner. I have been trying to adapt it to bmw-256 but have not been able to get it to work myself yet.

Fair enough, can I suggest you put that information near the link on the first page. I'm sure many people will think that it works at least (that is my definition of experimental) but is buggy or crashes, not that it is completely non-functional.
Can you also provide a link or information to the intended implementation specification of the BMW-256 algo? I might be able to have a crack at it when I get a some time.

It works good. Only I do not understand. This option tpruvolt spuminer-multi-v1.1-git But why is it so falls on the other hash algorithms against m1.09

I had that feeling too but the small wallet bugs from this coin are not present in octane i think it is more like an octane fork by someone else with bmw algo
