XFX 5830 Not over clocking

Hello,

I'm attempting to overclock my 5830 but it refuses to go over 900mhz

Attempting to interactively change I get the message below:

Isn't the powertune only for 6990's?

Did you try posting in the CGMiner thread?  Also I didn't see your Catalyst version in you later post.

I have some 5830's and they suck.... I can never get passed that safe range, Voltage is locked.....

I have no problems overclocking my 5830 to 960Mhz.  300+ Mhs isn't bad.

Not all cards are the same.. I have 4 identical 5830's and none of them will overclock past 930... voltage is locked ....... each stock voltage is 1.163 but one card is 1.125...... Sapphire Xtreme cards

Does the card hang when you OC past 900, or will the ADL just not go farther than 900? Might be a BIOS limitation.

Hmm, I guess I don't know the significance of the voltage being locked.  According to CGMiner my voltage is at 1.163 volts as well and it is a Sapphire Xtreme as well.  But I do run it at 960Mhz.  I used to run it at 970 but the new CGMiner seems to run the cards harder so I backed it down to 960 because I was starting to get HW errors.

Wish I had 4 of them .

My guess is that it is a bios limitation.. I was thinking of possibly flashing the bios to allow me to overclock with some voltage tweaks...

I've had similar trouble with another XFX card. Personally...I'm just staying away from XFX in the future...I know this doesn't help any but...just 2 pennies worth...

aticonfig -help is very usuful
