http://www.globalresearch.ca/the-new-water-barons-wall-street-mega-banks-are-buying-up-the-worlds-water/5383274

Apparently over the last few years billionaires and mega banks have been buying land over aquafers, lakes, water tech companies...saying water will be bigger than oil was in the last 100 years.  Honestly, it's scary to think of what might come of this...skyrocketing prices for a necessity like water...but with everything going on right now, it doesn't surprise me one bit.

Yeah, I agree, but now technology are more advanced, so I guess water can still be easily retrieved from seawater through desalination or other methods, and I guess the real problem is the transport of water for countries that do not have such technologies, and unable to have their own water sources, at the same time a poor country, then yes, its a serious problem.

Oil will soon run out, and there must be a replacement, or a new way to create more oil if possible, but still, this wont happen any time sooner, so its still safe to relax a bit for now, ultimately, it all comes down to the country's economy.

No actually making drinkwater from seawater through desalination is extremely expensive because of the power needed to run the devices.

In the future it might get cheaper but right now it is very expensive.

Since water get more expensive, try to save water as much as you can because not all people as lucky as us. Just look on Africa land mostly for example. They are lack of water for drinking and sanitation. But people can help each other to transport clean water to isolated area as long as our goverment also help us

Exactly, look at their death rates from things like diarrhea.  They cant get clean drinking water, contract disease and die from something you never hear about killing anyone elsewhere.

Imagine if it was that hard to get clean drinking water everywhere?  It's a scary scenario!  Dont take your clean drinking water for granted!

This problem is well known. It's very real. It's not yet apparent to all, but clean, safe to drink, water is a rare commodity in most of Asia and in several African countries. German philosopher Ernst Junger explained it. First, there was the forest, then men came, and then it was desert. Those are not its exact words, but that's the idea. The rich countries are also affected, the droughts are getting worse and worse in California. In Australia too, restrictions are getting normal.

I used to be a citizen and a taxpayer. Those days are long gone.

I have my own well but the problem is not having an access to water but having water that you know is clean and doesn't have to be filtered and boiled. Actually I'm more afraid they'll leak some shit, poison the groundwater and I'll drink it without even knowing.

There are always stories of the water in the US, in various cities with prescription medicines. People in the US, drink some crazy water.

Prescription Drugs in Your Food and Drinking Water

"Recent Findings and Debate

Some of the latest health summits have looked at which environmental medicines are a risk to consumers. These groups recognize that the concentration of medicines found in food and water supplies is very small. Still, there is worry over even trace amounts of medicine in the American diet. At the moment, we do not know if these medicines can harm the body over several years of exposure.

Examples of medicines that have been found in national water sources:

    • Antibiotics
    • Antidepressants
    • Anticonvulsants
    • Prescription hormones
    • Blood pressure medications
    • Cholesterol medications

Safety issues that may be linked to medicines in national water sources:

    • Possible increased rates of cancer
    • Possible organ damage from long periods of exposure to medicine
    • Possible organ damage from the intake of unusual mixtures of medicines
    • The development of antibiotic resistant bacteria"

Medicines are just a small fraction of the stuff you can find in your water. A few years back there was a serious contamination in a nearby town because power transformer broke and leaked oil into the ground. It appears this oil doesn't break down and can stay in the ground forever, poisoning people and animals.

I just dug two water wells and got super lucky.  25 gal/min between the two, and both produce good tasting and pure water.  Happy days!

I'm also selling my place in town in some measure because the water and sewer rates are high and I forsee them going much higher.  The town is going gangbusters on the whole ICLEI urban enhancement bandwagon.  This means that they are going to be going into hock big-time and will need to be servicing the dept for the rest of my life.  They will do it by cutting services and gouging people for every fucking little thing.  Getting rid of my property in town reduces my 'attack surface' so-to-speak.  I don't spend much time there anyway.

If I buy any more property it certainly won't be in the U.S. absent some significant political changes.  This place is fucked up.  Not sure many other places are not however.

I don't know about people buying property over aquifers, although I wouldn't be incredibly surprised.

The fact that water is a more precious resource than oil (and therefore will be something fought over, viciously) is one that has yet to realize full potential among the masses, but it's absolutely true. It's not about energy, it's about life. Everyone needs water to live and water is precious, expensive to process (like turning salt water into fresh water) and finite in regions when there is a drought. The only small silver lining is that water does renew itself, but not at the rate that it is consumed and that renewal isn't consistent in the same place year over year, decade over decade.

If you can't buy land over an aquifer (and aquifers do run out), consider buying stock in water management or water engineering companies...at least you can make some coin to help afford the run up.

Without a doubt water is the next big market it also is one where companies know that first-right to water is important
If your planting a claim its best to have older rights example California
I can live without oil but I can't live without water.

Now THAT is a scary thought, PSYCHOTROPICS and HORMONE drugs in the water supply...seems that they could tell MOST people they were putting these in there and they wouldn't batt an eye!  Most Americans just blindly accept what is dictated to them from their leaders, thinking they are working for the public good

Yep, most people will just assume that the government doesn't want to hurt them I mean why would they, the government loves everybody, there is no homeless situation, there are no starving people, there is no poverty why?  because the government loves you and would never dream of putting anything in your water Smiley

This is just a part of the problem. Pesticide and herbicide residues and stuff what occurs when these chemicals breaking down, disinfection byproducts are getting more and more an issue. Other additives like fluoride also have some adverse effects.
