Hi all, I post here because I cannot participate on the BFL related threads on the forum as a newbie. I'm a bit upset about this Sonny Vleisides' story, I don't know what to think about it, yet. But, after reading his introduction post (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=110868.0) I felt that there were something to dig about the IRS being involved in his case, trial & sentence. I'm not saying that he's not a crook, or that he is no longer one, but for sure the IRS has a dirty record of putting down honest people, and acting as an "official" mafia. For more information about that I invite you to watch the beginning of: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6ayb02bwp0

Cheers,

Camille.

Interesting vid - not sure how accurate many of the stated facts are - the few I bothered to check are invalid or inaccurate - so it looks to be mostly FUD.

Hi laSeek,

the few I bothered to check are invalid or inaccurate

I didn't checked all neither, can you post references to the facts you checked?

Thanks!

I admire a man who doesn't pay taxes. I will do business with BFL far into the future if he is a tax cheat and continues to disobey stupid laws.

Just some of the easy ones like Executive Order 11000 (Kennedy:1962) was listed (forced labour) - but it was revoked by EO 11490 (Nixon:1969).

I think some of the points listed are valid - but it's only a handful out of many.  I quite like the feminist argument at the end (around 2h into it) where he talks about feminism being initiated by the gov not to liberate women but to get them to work and hence generate more income from their wages - while pushing kids into childcare so they could be indoctrinated at an early age Smiley

Regarding Sonny - I don't really see the problem.  People make mistakes.  We all make choices based on circumstances and who we are - some of them turn out to be bad.  Ideally we learn from it and try to do better.
Serving time in an Italian prison isn't a picnic - from what little I know (I lived in Rome for 8y) they're pretty grim.

I've done some research into BFL (I'm nervous about paying a chunk of cash for something with an indeterminable delivery date) and while there's some very polarised views on them - they appear to actually try & delivery a decent product for a reasonable price.  In the past their communication has been haphazard and it does appear that they're genuinely trying to address that.
So I've (recently) ordered some kit from them and at the point of ordering they gave a tentative date of October for delivery (which I hope is the case).

Regarding world currencies - I'm all for it Smiley  It's hard to be a bitcoiner if it's not something you support Cheesy

Oh, you watch quite far, I was only referring to the beginning of the film, about IRS :-) Aaron Russo (the director) pretends that he learnt this feminist story from a Rockefeller guy, he also says that he learnt that they (Rockefeller & co.) want to develop a RFID electronic money system, see the whole interview of him shot by the paranoid (but interesting) journalist Alex Jone here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N3NA17CCboA

Funny thing: Aaron Russo (the director) ran for governor of Nevada, like Sonny's father.
