I heard this was possible using some sort of adapter but I can't find anything.

There might be a physical adapter but your card will still be bottlenecked to either x4 or x1 speed.

Also, Bitcoin mining only uses a minute amount of bandwidth, I have heard of people even using PCI slots for mining!
