Hey guys,

I just saw a darknet vendor at TheRealDeal that sells the btcTalk DB. His post is dated June 15nd 2015:
http://trdealmgn4uvm42g.onion/item/0adeee33d915c48439d8

Guess it's time change your passwords? Are the admins aware of this?

What the ... Please post some pictures like the user above suggested .
Theymos didn't inform us on anything and I'am pretty sure he know how things are on the database , maybe the guy is faking or selling an old database since 20 May (or something) hack . Did he mentioned the date of when the database got hacked ?

It is most likely this database that he is trying to resell.. Otherwise I hope you all have a strong password..

Meh , so there is nothing really to worry about . It's from the last month as he stated and the whole world changed his password already . and who didn't .. well it's his fault .
He will probably never be able to sell it with that price at least not while people changed passwords.

Exactly. People need to calm down, and stop panicking; you're not children anymore.
The forum was hacked two or three (?) times in the past. It is most likely that this is the database from the latest hack, and we were all advised to change our passwords. I thought theymos said that the PMs were not compromised. It looks like the hacker has managed to steal a part of them (if we take into consideration that this isn't some scam).

of course there is. I'd say there's 60% that this is just a scam attempt. but the chance that the seller will even get a buyer is very slim because of the reasons posted previously on this thread.

95% scam i think, if he really have the forum's database, i think there are already high ranking or important members here complaining they lost access to their account

107BTC is literally nothing, if you imagine the potential of leaked data.

hundreds of thousands active mails, passwords, accounts...and regarding (5) points feedback, it is not so low, considering how many deals are on the site and how many users are there.

We all can just hope, that it is fake and seller just needs quick bucks, because if not, I hard even imagine direct and indirect impact.

It's also a lot, given the potential of being a scam / empty or fake db.
As far as I've read you will never know who sold that to you.

I think it is a scam attempt, but a good possibility he'll get the 107 BTC if someone thinks it is indeed what he advertises.  Password changed already to be safe.

Theymos advised everyone to change their passwords right after the hack. I'm not sure what you were waiting for? Especially people who had shorter passwords are affected since those could be cracked within seconds/minutes.
Besides, I doubt (hope) that the forums were not hacked again in the last two months.

I didn't wait. Changed it a month ago, and then again 2 weeks ago.

Another seller attempting to profit big with empty files Cheesy

Anyways, theymos had alerted back then to change the password, as even he probably didn't know the extent of the breach. But I highly doubt they had time to download the entire database, or even a significant part of it.
