Hi,

We have been seeing lots of firstbits search on blockonomics . Wanted to discuss with community on proper way to go about this . Some historical context here https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Firstbits , Didn't post on existing thread, as it is filled with announcements. I believe firstbits search is useful, particularly for vanity addresses as it allows fast lookup.

The way this would work in blockonomics is user would input 6 characters or more in the search box and it would display top 5 instant suggestions (like in google instant search). The user can then choose the suggested address to do search on. Some ways to sort the results:

  • Sorted by address with most number of transactions
  • Sorted by address with first occurrence in blockchain (Know this is controversial)
  • Sorted by address having most recent occurrence in blockchain

Well, i've visited firstbits search website, but this service is tracked only for address which come from blockchain.info wallet.
So, even if this the first track address site, but the site is need more improvement.

This is a pretty website and it displays search as fast as possible though this is only linked with blockchain API but not really bad.
