You could open up a blockchain.info wallet and import the wallet.dat there, nice and quick.

Even though I do not recommend online wallets, this is a way for you to do it. I think that you could import it before registering although I think that registering will be needed after. You could also go to a friend who uses Bitcoin and just put your wallet.dat into his Bitcoin directory and do what you want to do. 40GB isn't really much data these days, with video gaming and movies being 50+GB.

Why would you not want to sign up? Takes a minute. If you don't want to download the blockchain look at getting a lite weight client as they're instant.

Try electrium. You are going to have to import your private key from the wallet.dat file if you have BTC on it though..

If a hacker found a "wallet.dat" on a victim's PC, would he ask a question like that if he was rather unexperienced with bitcoins?

can an hackers be an experience with bitcoin? or anything related IT in general? i don't think so this is more of a legit question or a spamming one to increase post count for selling account later OP can simply use a light client to do what he want to do actually i want to ask something interesting, there is a way to extract private keys from a wallet.dat or any other format, without running a client(any client)?

SPV Clients like MultiBit or Electrum don't need to download the whole blockchain. You can use a tool like pywallet to extract the private keys and import them into another wallet. Or you can import it into blockchain.info and send the Bitcoin from there to another wallet.

If he doesn't have the passphrase he ain't getting shit. If you lose your passphrase you are super screwed, legit they are gone forever if your passphrase is over 10chars, bye bye coins.. I've lost 700 000 bits cause I'm dumb. OP, youtube how to get your private key from a wallet.dat file, you don't need to download the blockchain to get it. Your private key is just a string of characters 58 long. Take this "key" go to import on blockchain.info, paste it there and boom.

It doesn't store the blockchain on your computer. Bitcoin-qt downloads the blockchain to your computer and you become a node thus increasing the strength of BTC.

Why would you not want to sign up? Takes a minute. If you don't want to download the blockchain look at getting a lite weight client as they're instant. yEP but i get Connection Refused!! Yes, bc.i no longer offers this service. Your fastest way would by pywallet -> https://github.com/jackjack-jj/pywalletAn easy way would be to install and sync bitcoin core. Somewhere in between would be to install bitcoin core, but do not let it sync and export the private keys into a different wallet and send the coins from there. Keep in mind though, if someone else has access to the private keys because you have not been careful they could spend the coins instead of you.
