Just wanted to get some Chaturbate tokens and there was no bitcoin option. Mailed them and got this reply, that they have discontinued it and have no plans to add it again at this time.

The same happened with Naughty America and some other sites which have initially added Bitcoin payments

My guess is it's hard to prove person using bitcoin is over 18.  That is best reason I ca think of.

With credit cards they do this already and only let 18 and up get it.   So I'm guessing they would have had to verify people and age which is not really something they want to spend money on.

Isn't this already verified when a user click on that button "I'm over 18 years old" that's basically on every porn website? It's in their terms and you agree with it when you click the button, so if you are not over 18 that's not their problem. You are there against their terms..

Mine was honestly a guess.  I could very well be wrong and you are right.

But with under 18 your a minor so you most likely cannot be held to their terms as your not able to consent as a minor.

Yeah, they haven't had the Bitcoin option in a while. Flirt4Free had it for a while but I can't find the option now. On the up side LiveJasmin has just started accepting it.

This is really old news. They stopped taking it almost an year ago.

i was gonna try chaturbate because i saw that they accepted bitcoins, but then it turned out they stopped.
Chaturbate was accepting bitcoins for a few months earlier this year, but then stopped without any fanfare or notice.

And it was a long time ago and I was glad they did because it was becoming too easy for people like me to waste bitcoins. Never knew what was the reason behind it but I think they had some trouble with bitpay, which is what they were using to accept BTC.

It's not as if it's adding a lot of extra overhead on the payment system, by adding Bitcoin. Strange as it might sound, some of these sites have to adhere to KYC and AML regulations too. I think the regulators got to them and gave them the option to stop accepting Bitcoins or close shop.
The VAT issues also make things a bit tricky, when it come down to submitting the yearly tax returns.

Some of these sites accept Bitcoin and have unrealistic expectations on how much added business they would receive. Bitcoin adoption alone, would not significantly increase traffic to those sites. They still need to market the fact that they are accepting Bitcoin, and help to educate people in it's use or simply provide resources to that information. ^hmf^

It's real shame to see a big adoption opportunity to be dropped. Online chatting and dating site is one of the most prolific adoption possibility. I hope there are other sites to accept BTC.

It's a niche now, will not in the future. Anyone using BTC now will be seen a pioneer, anyone not using BTC in the future will be seen an idiot. Also, you don't need to invest anything to accept BTC payments, it's simply stupid not to do so.

What about xotika.tv? They are made just for Bitcoin, you can pay with alts but it goes through Shapeshift to Bitcoin so it's powered just by Bitcoin. They don't accept any other currency and girls are here like 24 hours / day. Never happened that I came and there's no one. I would 100% recommend this site, you don't even need any account and I actually tried to deposit some mBTC and tipped, so I saw some shows Tongue

there're very few models at xotika compared to others. 500-1000 online models vs 1-5
