...

I have the photo ready to go, except it is too large (6.41 MB).  In MS Paint, and a .jpg file.

I would certainly appreciate any help in "shrinking" it, or whatever, thank you.

You can try using paint.net and reducing the quality through that. To do so, open up the photo in paint.net, click Save and then a box will pop up allowing you to lower the quality until it's below the Bitcointalk threshold, which I believe is 1MB. I have a feeling that number is off, so if someone could correct me that would be awesome.

Go to ms paint, and then resize the photo, and lower the quality if needed. At least with me the quality and file size is lowered when I do it or save in different format.

Or go to services and offer a bounty for the first that do it for you

oh..that's too easy ..follow my steps !

step1: right click on the image that you wanna edit , click on edit to open in MS-paint.
step2: click on resize
step3: select the pixels radio button from resize dialog box.
step4: make necessary pixel changes 120x70 pixels, be sure to uncheck maintain aspect ratio.
step5: click ok and save the file.

If you feel happy with my effort you can Tip some nasty coins , though not recommend.

...

I put this thread here in "Meta" because there was a kind-of similar thread here I found via "Search".

Thanks for the help.  Tomorrow (Thurs, US time) I will see if I can put my avatar in (the picture is at my office).

Each of you: want a tip?  Then PM me w/ precise instructions and BTC address.  Bitcoin only.  Once I get my avatar in.

And, for anyone wondering how someone can get to be a "Hero Member" not knowing how to do this kind of stuff (non-programmer to boot), the secret is: ask!

...

Success!  Thanks to all of you.  I did as instructed at MS Paint.

Now that I have something, I can tinker with the sizing to maybe make it look better.
