Will they be integrating with BTC's blockchain or using their own internal blockchain Im wondering?  Anyone have any insight beyond this article?

At this stage, I think they've committed to using colored coins, but in future maybe they'll try their own private blockchain.

From the looks of it they plan to use blockchain technology. People tend to confuse these terms more often than they should.
I don't even see the correct way that Bitcoin could be implemented. Unless you talk about replacing all currencies with Bitcoin. The blockchain technology offers a lot of possibilities and it is much better than what is currently being used.

Thanks. People should save that image and use it everytime someone confronts you about "they said they are using blockchain technology, NOT bitcoin, bitcoin will fail lol!". Those idiots are the worst I swear to god. Hopefully newspapers start correctly informing people and at least learn what colored coins, sidechains and so on, are.

I appreciate the clarification as I incorrectly assumed that they would start their own blockchain.

It makes sense to use a blockchain that others a diligently maintaining and securing for you. Creating a new one is an unnecessary cost and risk.
