more likely: your isp or government is blocking it.

It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue.

I was getting this as well intermediately. I was attempting to access the forum from my iPhone (US) with no VPN, and was eventually able to access the forum after some amount of time.

Weird that you were being blocked in the US. I expect it from strict, controlling countries but not the US.

To the OP - Just use Tor or a VPN to allow you access, should work Smiley

more likely: your isp or government is blocking it.

I'm not sure if that's the case, but lately i get CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT error, which sometimes lasts upto one hour, during which i completely can't access the forum.
If ISP is the one blocking access, it would be permanent, right ? So why does it go away eventually ? I noticed that it happens when i navigate through forum fast, and opening more tabs one after another within forum.

If anyone has some quick fix to this issue, it would be very appreciated.

cheers

I always get the message at least twice or more times a day, it has been on and off like this for maybe three weeks or so.

Just cannot connect, does not happen anywhere else.

And its gone.

this happened to me as well. what's weird is I checked some "is a site down" sites and half of them says that bitcointalk is up while the others said that it's down..  Huh usually all of them says down if I can't connect.

I couldnt access the forum on my home PC. Was curious so tried neighbors WiFi and same thing, appears to be a comcast ISP issue or just a coincidence? Loads fine using another ISP and my mobile.

Wonder what's going on?

I get this at least a couple of times a day, but refreshing the page does the job for me.

I'm also getting the connection refused error, it's been hard to surf the forum for the last hour or so I've been online, it comes and goes.

The same thing here, maybe a traceroute can clarify more 'the situation'.

Ok, so it seams that the problem is not isolated to an ISP or country, which is a relief. I tried using google and open DNS in effort to resolve the issue but failed.
Can anyone else confirm that they also get the issue after opening up bitcointalk in more tabs, maybe it's some sort of defence mechanism to prevent ddos ?
It gets really anoying at times, especially when it happens few times in an hour..

cheers

I've been seeing the same issue for the last several days, various providers, Verizon, Comcast, Integra etc.  Forum will timeout or give connection refused randomly and for up to an hour.

It's been happening quite frequently here too. Normal I guess, maybe the connection can't handle all this load Cheesy

now i feel better Smiley
i thought i was alone , but this shows that a lot of others are having the same problem.

i don't know how reliable this site is but whenever i checked bitcointalk on there (yesterday) it says it is down or it was down a while ago:
http://www.isitdownrightnow.com/bitcointalk.org.html

as you can see it was last down 4 hours 22 mins ago by the time i am posting this.

Sometimes I get connection refused or page failed to load error.

I just check the twitter to see if the downtime will be bigger and go do something else for 1h at least, when I'm back the issue auto-solved

Yeah, have been experiencing the same thing. Thought maybe it was because my IP was being incorrectly blocked during a DDoS attack. Glad to know it wasn't just me  Smiley.
