The forum has been loading quite slowly for me recently and today I got this message:

"Lock wait timeout exceeded; try restarting transaction"

A little bit of googling (okay, the first google result) showed this stackoverflow page. That would point to it being the database running slowly though I'm not a professional on databases and running a very large website.

Anyone else having a really slow Bitcointalk recently?

The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

Same here. Friday was horrible, I finally gave up. Today is much better.

Yea, I have even been just getting the site being down quite often as well as just slow load times.  Wonder if there is some testing going on for that huge expensive upgrade.

No problems here. Everything fine. Sometimes the forum didn't load but that was everything and was not to many times. I made post and they posted correctly. No other thing to mention.

It is the forum's anti-DDoS attack service being slow and theymos testing out new service providers.

Hmm, okay then. Is that the sole reason, then?

Thanks for the link.  I came here looking for some explanation the few times I could get in and found nothing.  I think this should have been announced a little better given that it went on for a few days.

Edit:  However, that thread says it should be over on the 22nd of July.

Seems to be running pretty smoothly & quickly for me right now on various devices. I have experienced slow times & outages in the recent past but it's about as quick as it's ever been for me right now.

Maybe it's a certain few countries or locations that have been experiencing issues?

Yah, today it's working great for me but over the weekend it was terribly slow.  I'm just confirming that I had issues at my location as well during the timeframe you're talking about.

Yeah, it's running fine now, haven't really been noticing any slow-downs or issues. Wasn't that good before, but I don't really have anything to complain about now as it's fine Wink
