CRIME: Police Warn Bitcoin Helping Underage Drinksters Get Buzzed

Police in Darien, Connecticut are warning parents that a new Darknet cryptocurrency called Bitcoin could be to blame. Many young people are now buying high-quality fake IDs online using the deepweb currency. Typically teens are asked to pay between $100 and $200 for the fraudulent fun passes.

In recent weeks, police have confiscated a number of counterfeit IDs, said Sgt. Jeremiah Marron. Many of the fakes are professional quality and nearly indistinguishable from authentic IDs, Marron said.

"Young people and their parents need to realize that obtaining fraudulent identification is a serious crime with potential criminal consequences, although their teenager may only be using a fake ID to buy alcohol or get into a bar, driver’s licenses are official government-issued documents."

Back in the 80’s parents would ask their children to reset the VCR clock, but today’s techno teens are much more advanced, and wise in the ways of the bitcoin.

These stories are so stupid.  I was buying alcohol underage with good old fiat.  Its the internet that makes it easier, not bitcoins.  IMO it is harder to use bitcoins, unless thewe kids spend months at faucets to buy a six pack for the big end of the year party.

Anyway kids will always get up to no good, its just their nature.  They don't need bitcoins to do it.

I think this is the reason we have evolved into what we are today. Youngsters pushing on every boundaries. Looking for new places to go, new ways to do stuff and new ways to think. Most of the things they do is useless but every now and then something new and revolutionary pops up.

The warning from the police stated that:

So the title of the article should have been:

Police warn Amex, Diners, Master Card, Visa, all Banks and Bitcoin helping underage drinksters get buzzed

or just:

Police warn that youngsters with access to money [in any form] will get buzzed

No matter what you are using as payment, those people still buy fake ID. If you can buy your stuff with bitcoin, then it also can be used for bad thing like porn (actually I dont know exactly if it is a bad thing or not), buy fake ID, weapons, drugs, or any bad thing else. The main point is, if they blame bitcoin just because it was used to pay fake ID making service, so they should blame fiat too.

They use the bitcoins to buy the id, not the alc itself. They use fiat for that because they can now id themselves as of age.
