There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

I do not think it ever was. The developers of the GPU miners wanted about 3 BTC, I believe. I thought it was outrageous, at the time, but now looking back at it, people need to get paid for their work. 3 BTC back then was really not that much to ask. (Probably a bit much, now.  Cheesy)

It is still traded on an exchange (Yobit) and its blockchain is still chugging along, so it is a long way from dead.

AXIOM is now trade-able on the Stellar platform, along with several of the Sci-Fi themed coins some of the original merged-mined coins and (pre-Litecoin) scrypt coins and so on.

This platform allows any two assets to be traded against each other, no need to make the platform's native coin, Stellar Lumens (XLM) be one half of the trading-pair.

This means for example we have a AXIOM/DVC market, GPL/DVC, GPL2/DVC. USF/DVC, UFC/DVC etc but you can also make offers with any pair you wish like AXIOM/GPL or whatever.

See http://makemoney.knotwork.com/stellar/

I was envisioning a crypto Phoenix rising from the ashes and the name Axiom came into my head. I typed it into CMC and it so happened to be a dead coin. Maybe someone will bring some life back into it.
I hadn't heard of Axiom until I had the thought in my head. Was originally trying to find a new name for Ethereum Classic.

MarkM I cannot quote your last post, but you said GPL2/FVC. Is that a hint, a role playing game freudian slip, or a correction needed to be made? I hope ya see this.

No FVC. here: http://makemoney.knotwork.com/stellar/

AXIOM/XLM and AXIOM/DVC are set up on the Stellar platform.

For AXIOM on the Stellar platform see http://makemoney.knotwork.com/stellar/axiom/ ( Explorer: https://stellar.expert/explorer/public/asset/AXIOM-GBHAQ252S4Z4AQOM4BWIRC3UHAOJIKCZQBUJGD336YH2O7W2NKRXMHA5 )

For DVC (DeVCoin) on the Stellar platform see http://makemoney.knotwork.com/stellar/dvc/ ( Explorer: https://stellar.expert/explorer/public/asset/DVC-GBHAQ252S4Z4AQOM4BWIRC3UHAOJIKCZQBUJGD336YH2O7W2NKRXMHA5 )

Partly this is just to remind you-all, but partly it is also to provide those "explorer" links where you can explore what they have been up to...
