Long story short, Paypal screwed me over and I need a loan of $70. I decided to ask the bitoin community because I've established a pretty good reputation here. I have a good rating on OTC, and a lot of people here can vouch for me. I can't tell you how soon I will repay you, but I will repay you. I would prefert you allow me to pay you in equity to USD, because Bitcoin prices may rise in which case  would be extremely had to pay ou back. I'm willing to pay a reasonable interest if requested. Let me now if you're interested.

Sounds dreadful, chap. Personally, I can't help you at the moment with anything but a thread bump. Hopefully you've worked something out already?

I'm curious though...if you wouldn't mind elaborating a bit more on the long story short part?

Like many newcomers here, I've been trying to get my head around all things Bitcoin lately.

One of my preliminary conclusions is that Paypal is probably the big fish with the most to lose from Bitcoin's success in the relatively short run. As in, if there are reliable enough exchanges and the overall fees are lower than Paypal's fees(and I'm pretty sure they are), then why pay Paypal higher fees for transactions? What's really eyebrow raising here to me is that the whole 'anonymity' angle is rather tangential. There's a lot of legal commerce out there that would like to duck transaction fees if it were easy and reliable and safe enough etc.

Was it a case of a buyer doing a charge back? Or something different, like some variety of Paypal screwing with you because they realized it was a Bitcoin related transaction?

I'm guessing the Paypal folks are probably watching the Bitcoin story with growing revulsion and will try to fight it any way they can, if and when they feel like they have to...perhaps they will even try to adapt before it's too late for them.

Anyways, so that's why I'm curious to hear a bit more specifically what you're dealing with.

Also, Bitcoin has brought a lot of users to Dwolla, which looks to be able to give PayPal a run for its money. I would dearly love to see PayPal face some real competition in the person-to-person payment arena. (They already have decent competition in business payments from amazon and google.)

Paypal screwed me over for 15x that.  Staying away from Paypal for anything even remotely related to BTC.  In fact, you could say any non-tangible good (like online services) you need to stay away from Paypal.
