As I understand it, Government people are supposed to use their own "secure email system" for classified communication (Five Eyes).
Somehow, contractors and people outside the US Govenment (think: Lockheed) communicate on their classified work with their government counterparts. Maybe they are granted acess to the Gov system, maybe they have internal secure systems. I haven't looked into this. The point is, somehow it is done and there is a standard of quality there.
Now comes Hillary with her private email system.
Am I understanding the media reports correctly by reading into them that she was operating a consumer grade, CLEAR TEXT EMAIL system? Or do we even know this level of detail on the matter. For example, was there a signed certificate? Was it SSL? Etc.
Please explain, if this is known.
