I've recently ordered a Raspberry Pi 2 from ebay (cost me $42) with the interest of mining alt coins with it. I already own a miner, which is a Gridseed GC3355 but I don't know how to set it up with my newly purchased RPi.

My questions are the following:

How do I install the drivers for the miner in the RPi?

How to properly configure cgminer on a RPi?

Please help. I'm still a noob when it comes to configuring miners. Thank You.  Smiley

Most of these usually run through internet and don't need a monitor to access them, so what you can do is:
1.Load image to micro sd
2. Connect gridseed to pi via usb or powered usb hub
3. Connect pi 2 to router via ethernet
4. go to your router IP and find the ip for the pi2 (under connected devices usually)
5. Type the IP for the pi 2 into your browser
6.Login in to pi via web interface (will look a website)
7. configure miners (your gridseed will be listed) and pools.

Great! Thanks for sharing this info! By the way, is there a way to turn miner on/off automatically at a set time? I'm planning on leaving my RPI turned on 24/7 but I'm afraid that the miner would not resist being powered on all that time. I just want to make it turn off at a certain time and then turn it on when I get back home (as I'm in college)

Hmmm, there are some settings you could do since it is running linux through commands I am sure but the simplest would probably be a remote connection to your pc, so when you're at college on your phone or laptop you can remote your pc, go to the ip of the pi and control it from there and include turning it off and on.

Now make sure you don't have any big wallet amounts on your home pc when you do this as it may make it more vulnerable.

Will do this...Thanks for your advice. I appreciate all your help  Wink

No problem and if you have any more questions feel free to ask, I am sure there are plenty of things you can do with ssh shell commands but those seem to be quite complicated and I think you would still need to remote in to your pc to execute those.

Yes. SSH looks very complicated to use. I would prefer remote VNC connection to the PI as I would better manage it via the GUI.  Cheesy
