Bitcoin is the first coin so I still believe that these coins would be the future for crypto. As for the popular coins Ethereum is number two after Bitcoin. And I would argue that Bitcoin and Ethereum are coins that will bring the world of crypto to be the best and have a very good future.

One does not need to overcome another as they could work pretty well hand by hand. As many people wrote before, I strongly believe that both of those cryptos are about to stay (even though Bitcoin looks slightly overpriced in compare to what it offers today). Both of those coins have a purpose and niche on their own. There will always be people in both camps that will argue day and night as to why they believe their Coin or protocol is better. I think both have their value, first Bitcoin because it was the grandfather of all cryptocurrency as we know it and Ethereum opened the Blockchain to more businesses and made it accessible to decentralize applications and eradicate red tape and many hurdles in conducting financial transactions. If it captures 1% of that $2T, it is equivalent to $20B, which would put ETH somewhere around $150. Those who sell for $2 will shit bricks, eat sand and may even commit suicide in the years to come. If it captures 10% of that ETH will be $1500. I know it sounds crazy, but so did the Internet in 1995.

Once it's launched their main focus will be on scalability, which I think is the real reason crypto is not ready for mainstream. Once they can handle 100K TPS (and I'm sure they will), it's game over.

It will be great if that happens but, more importantly is the fact that if ether price can go as high as $10000 this does not mean mainstream adoption. For mainstream adoption to happen, we have the problem of speed, scalability and regulation to be addressed. Mass adoption will only require a solution the delivers value to people using crypto, with projects like mfchain, pundi X among those heading for mass adoption. Soon the narrative will begin to change.

Altough it was extremly interesting to read this post, I think that it is very stupid to say that ETh is better than BTC, ETH is strongly connected to ICO market which is fundementally different from every day payments which basically is the purposr of BTC.
