ETH will allow $2T of underground economy to become more structured (and possibly less underground) through DAOs.http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/wonkblog/wp/2013/04/23/americas-2-trillion-shadow-economy-is-the-recessions-big-winner/If it captures 1% of that $2T, it is equivalent to $20B, which would put ETH somewhere around $150. Those who sell for $2 will shit bricks, eat sand and may even commit suicide in the years to come. If it captures 10% of that ETH will be $1500. I know it sounds crazy, but so did the Internet in 1995. Once it's launched their main focus will be on scalability, which I think is the real reason crypto is not ready for mainstream. Once they can handle 100K TPS (and I'm sure they will), it's game over.

There have been so many fuss about this ethereum thing, though I wouldn't deny the fact that it is interesting, but most of the news about it seems to be overrated and exaggerated.

Let me get this straight if $new_coin captures $arbitrary_small_but_credible_percentage of $some_preexisting_global_economic_market then moon. I sense deja-vu

Two stupid threads alone today from trollypop. Why the mods allow newcomers to start threads or even bypass newb jail is beyond me. Market has changed so the troll is irrelevant at this point.

Ethereum has big advertising Let's see what happens with this new coin / platform. From what I've read it's not even near to a competition to Bitcoin.

I pity the poor sod. Wasted a year of his life slagging off something he secretly loves yet failed to get close to the bottom

OP you have no idea just how many people before you have claimed similar things, and praised xyz of other sh*tcoins. This is just another rinse and repeat process that benefits only to devs and pump-n'-dumpers of the said coins, with little or no value or impact on the bitcoin. Save us the time and don't open up alt promoting threads like this one, it won't do anything good to you, it will just get laughed out, just like this thread just not.
cheers

Also, based on observing the obvious its just for post count for the newbie account I assume.

Once they can handle 100K TPS (and I'm sure they will), it's game over. etherium coin will be soon classified as scam shit coin after it released. give it a few months if it's not die in instant, just like auroracoin. no one will ever take bitcoin place even if it have some flaw. the name bitcoin will always be a crypto king, not nonsense shit name like etherum. you can fix some flaw but you can't fix stupid. etherueim=messy nonsense crap no one would bother to mess around=created by scammers for scammers get to know ethereium is like get to know another useless coding language and waste of time, all the profits going to scammer's pockets. etheruem have sold 62million coins, when it's released expecting it to be over 62million or even 100million coins. greedy and scamer will always greedy and scamer that is just human nature. mark my post as you see it here first adoption will be %0.000000000000000% scammers and whales going to manipulating, intimidating, hypes with fake volume/walls and scam each others hard! reason? wild wild west altcoins scam is dying and not much other coins with high liquidity

Maybe it is more like etherium functionality is the future of bitcoin, ether (its currency) is not ?
As presumably once the functionality is fleshed out and tested if it is good some bitcoin sidechain will adopt it ?

Simply paranoia. A bunch of data cannot throw away 6 years of extraordinary story of bitcoin. Every new coin is a clone of bitcoin and it is impossible that the clone substitute the original. Whatever it will be and whatever are its characteristics. Bitcoin is unique and such will be. Its story haven't begin yet and we will see to much new things about it.

FYI - Ethers are as different from bitcoins as oil is from gold. Ethereum platform is as different from the bitcoin platform as banking is from law. OP is stupid.
But. If bitcoin doesn't get it's political & scaling shit together it will eventually be overtaken.
"Bitcoin is supreme because it's been around for six years. Your shitcoin will never replace it - bitcoin is better."
"Why is it better?"
"Because it will always be the leader since it's always been the leader."
Bitcoin maximalists as a general rule give arguements that're as sound as the OP.
