I want to know what's exactly is the difference between those two services , I never tested any of them but I know how basically Bitmixer.io works and I didn't test Darkwallet because they said it's not Safe and not stabe and we should use it at our own risk.

I thought Darkwallet is giving Off-chain transactions however from reading there website seems like it's not ?

I saw that they use CoinJoin Mixing or something like that so what's exactly is the difference between those two and if it's just mixing then why it need so much money to get developped https://www.darkwallet.is/donate/

As far as I know Darkwallet is super advanced technology compared to the simplicity of a mixer which is not true anonymity (its centralized, you need trust from the mixer host). Darkwallet is anonymity decentralized. Im not sure about the technical details tho.

If I'm not mistaken, Darkwallet uses stealth addresses, something that can be used depending on the blockchain only, thus being decentralized. Bitmixer is just a mixing service. AFAIK Darkwallet does not do mixing itself, so they're different things for different purposes.

Speaking about those Stealth adresses , I was searching on their Github page then got linked to their Wiki page . I read about Stealth things but I didn't get a word how does those things works if you could make it simplier to me

I think they are addresses that don't show up on the blockchain with details, only the 2 parties involved know the details. Not sure tho. The guy developing Darkwallet named Amir used to post here I think but disappeared for months and the project has been frozen.

i have used bitmixer before and everything seemed to work, also i heard that it provides good services, there is no need to trust it to darkwallet as it says its not stable

Does Dark Wallet essentially use CoinJoin or something else?

I think they are addresses that don't show up on the blockchain with details, only the 2 parties involved know the details.
I don't know what stealth addresses are or how they work, but this sounds like bogus rumor. The essence of Bitcoin is the very fact that everybody can see a transaction, and verify that any input address did indeed previously receive the funds that are being spent. Bitcoin addresses and transactions are public by definition.

Can anyone explain stealth addresses in layman's terms?

In theory, there's no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.

...

I too would appreciate an explanation in layman's terms about Darkwallet.  It does seem that new technologies may be coming that will better protect our anonymity and/or privacy.

It's a race...  For now it looks like using bitmixer.io AND blockchain.info's SharedCoin (on occasion or even better in sequence (each transaction)) will cover the trail to all but .gov tracking.

It's not really frozen AFAIK , their twitter account seem to be active and they are retweeting from time to time , also they asked funding on their twitter in March so project should be UP and they still working on it . it's 75% funded like you see on the link I gave on OP .

I just want to know what is the difference between it and Bitmixer.io , it's not trusted and not stable because it's on Alpha stage testing and that's normal , they don't want us to lose our money so we have to wait . still curious to know the difference between those two

i remember it use the same thing as zerocoin, which mean that the untraceability is based on the zero proof knowledge, although i'm not entirely sure

I vote for DarkWallet but we need more users to start using DarkWallet for its mixing to become effective.

A simple introduction to DarkWallet:

DarkWallet is a Bitcoin wallet which gives importance to privacy. It is a hierarchical determisnistic wallet with CoinJoin, stealth payment and multisignature features.

Again Muhammed Zakir come and save the situation , thank you friend Grin

I know we need more users to start using Darkwallet but I don't see who will use it for the moment since it's on Alpha (not even Beta) and it's not stable and we should use it at our own risk as I said .
and the funding seems to be frozen or something , people aren't donating anymore  It's 75% for the last months and not moving at all .

Muhammed Zakir has just given many of us our reading assignment for the weekend!  Thank you!

Mr. Zakir, you might consider dropping off this information at the "Economic Totalitarianism" thread (in Economics) as privacy is discussed there too.  If you do, be prepared for argumentative other posters...

The project is kinda abondoned. Someone need to take over the project or work with them *actively*. I believe someone will come forward.
