The Chinese government block thousands of websites in order to prevent what appears to be a politically sensitive information that can not reach Internet users
china used a wrong way to protect their so-called country; luckily, i live in hong kong - nothing banned from this site! Cheesy
china is just absolute garbage, rebel them is right.

out of ability to use the signature, i want a new ban strike policy that will fade the strike after 90~120 days of the ban and not to be traced back, like google | email me for anything urgent, message will possibly not be instantly responded
i am not really active for some reason

Yeah I do both the things without using the VPN or any other related service for long time and never faced any problem or restriction . I don't see why someone needs to use VPN just to use Bitcoin and BitcoinTalk when these are free to use.In China there are so many restriction even google had problem with them in past .

I live in USA and as far as I know the government here doesn't block any sites.
Lol Smiley The US government's censorship & internet control department is doing a REAL good job if its citizins aren't even aware (or in denial) about their site blocking practices Smiley

You forgot about Wikileaks, Edward Snowden, etc?

would you be kind enough to tell me a site thats blocked in the US so i can get angry?  i checked wikileaks.org and it seems to work.

aren't many proxy banned there? i'm curious which one are not banned yet, because if they see that many are using proxy to evade their restriction i'm sure even those unknown proxies will be banned in the end

Hello guys, I am very depressed. I live in China mainland, each time when I try to login to Bitcoin client(I use portable Electrum most) I must seek for a proxy or VPN. Without a proxy or vpn, the client can't hardly connect to the network.  Sometimes,  I cannot even access Bitcointalk and Blockchain freely without using a proxy or vpn, and yes, at the moment, I am using a vpn browsing Bitcointalk and starting this topic.
Have you ever travel to China? We get no access to Twitter, Facebook, Gmail and many many many other websites that are hosted abroad.
Can you use Bitcoin freely and access Bitcointalk and Blockchain freely without using a proxy/VPN in your country?

Czech Republic and yes, I can freely access literally every working site on whole internet (at least I never faced such situation, that something blocked me).

Your issue looks related to amazing buzzword "Great Firewall" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Firewall) and sadly, site is really blocked:

If you use a service of VPN don't you risk your IP being blocked forever if it is related with someone else from before ? Isn't tor a better solution than using a vpn for accessing ?

and why? it isn't a illegal thing like some other countries believe, pretty stupid to ban something which has to do with everyone day living

taboo like that does not exist anymore, and for a good damn reason

I can access to my Bitcoin wallet (Mycelium) and Bitcointalk freely without using a VPN. However, I can't access some gambling site like PrimeDice without the use of VPN here. The authority here is trying to block every gambling site - however, only a few of the popular one is blocked. Anyway, I dont gamble online so there's no need to use VPN. Smiley.

So sad! This profile does not appear as the #1 result (on anonymous) Google searches anymore.

Time to be active on the crypto forums again? Proud to be one of the few Legendary members of the Sparkie Red Dot!

Gonna put this on my resume if I ever join a cryptocurrency/blockchain industry!

there is no simple reason why to block something on internet. you can block import of some goods or yourself in elevator. but blocking some portion of websites? in world, where you can connect any device capable to broswe web via proxy and deploy squid proxy within minutes on cheap vps?

blocking any content or information source simply can't change or improve anything. please, be so kind and realize it..

Some people refuse to take responsibility for their impulses, parenting and environment-they never really grew up. They wish for all of us to suffer or be denied access to things because of their failings. It is not only a petty and selfish attitude which goes hand in hand with entitlement, but is the noose by which authoritarians and totalitarians strangle open and free populations.
