i appreciate that you guys are all derivatives of some combination of psychopath-anarchist. we are brothers in the same confusion.

however, i want to suggest that, instead of all the threads decrying the foundation, let's just see what the hell they actually end up doing before hurling those stones.

(alternatively, do carry on as normal, par for the course as they apparently say).

I have a better idea. Let's let them earn some positive feedback before we believe their organization is of value and furthers bitcoin name.

I don't think throwing stones is necessary, but healthy skepticism and voicing concerns seems totally reasonable.

If anything, there should be more of that (not throwing stones; healthy skepticism and voicing concerns).

agree, skepticism.

but maybe stop claiming they're the antichrist before they operate for a little bit?

It's all just jealousy, we can't afford the cost of becoming members, because most of us have not run successful ponzi schemes on the rest of you yet.

Does anyone actually know what they do or are intending to do?  Because I just heard of them last week for the first time so I have no idea.

From the site:
-----
Our Goals for 2013

So, what will we be doing in 2013 with the Bitcoin Foundation? We’ve set our eyes on accomplishing the following things:

Begin to pay Gavin’s salary and get him some budget for the core development team
Run a payments-oriented Silicon Valley Bitcoin Conference in the spring (Bitcoin 2013)
Publish a set of best practices for businesses transacting in Bitcoin, covering topics from accounting to physical and digital security
Create an opt-in certification process for Bitcoin businesses

I see the value of Bitcoin, so I don't worry about the price...

Well, now I'm somewhat against it. Pffft anyone can get certified as knowing how to operate a safe, secure site and still rip people off and still technically get hacked so that's not the best idea.  Paying Gavin isn't a terrible idea but wouldn't he have like a bajillion BTC already anyway if he hopped in fairly early? lol.  If he's got $millions$, he can volunteer his time, damn it! lol Tongue

btw you spelled 'Merica wrong, lol.

Btw totally inaccurate caption otherwise, lol.  Pretty much every country outside of the US and Europe will let you have whatever the hell gun you want.  Example: Russia, all of Africa, most of asia Tongue
