Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

Sorry, you're either a sole proprietorship if you're mining solo or an independent consultant if you're mining in a pool. Either way, no workman's comp. Sad

Burned myself of a few CPUs/GPUs thinking they were cool enough to touch...

Actually cut open my finger by tripping it through a 4,000 RPM 150CFM fan Tongue

Have yet to electrocute myself, but that's probably coming.

My 1.5 TB hard disc failed horribly and make the floor it was on stink like burning computer parts. On further inspection, the hard disc did in fact catch fire. The resulting medical effects I endured were shitting in my pants due to thinking I had lost most of my coins.

I fried a power connector on my psu, plugged in a sata-pata adapter and somehow it shorted out.
loss of limbs: psu floppy connector
loss of life: sata-pata adapter,  dvd burner(untested/untrusted)
other injuries: appears to be contained locally to the floppy connector wire & pata adapter.

Fried the the atx 24 pin connector(12v connectors overheated and melted it) after running 6x5850s on the same board without modding the pci-e extenders for external power adapters  Roll Eyes  , board survived tho and fixed it by directly soldering the ATX cables to the backside of the motherboard  Cool

Hey guys, it's been a short while since there's been a submission. I can only hope this means that miners have actually been implementing safety procedures to stay safe on the job, but if you've had a mining accident lately, please submit a report. It will go a long way in making others safer.  Smiley

Haven't had any mining but did ages ago running seti@home.
Big ass moth flew into the cpu fan and stopped it spinner. Tried getting it out with fingers but was to hot so got some pliers to get it out and just as I pulled it out fan hit pliers towards my gfx card which scared the shit out of me. Just missed hitting it.

Could call it debugging the pc.

my neighbors cat knocked over my rig causing sparks- the sparks ignited a controlled substance. as i was cleaning up the mess i was electrocuted due to the effect of stupidity the controlled substances had over my mind....... needless to say this ended in me almost choking on half of a carrot and the police being called.... the weight of all the officers caused a sinkhole to collapse, but that's another story for another day.

Silly survey -- carrots are healthy, and geeks don't eat healthy food.  Now, if the carrots were *fried*, then it would be plausible.
