Micro$oft has been doing anything and everything to promote their browser and search engine since they crushed Netscape Navigator. Don't they realize they both suck and people hate them. I wouldn't stop using Mozilla Firefox and Google if you gave me free money.

"This sweepstakes is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Apple, Inc."

LOL, WAT?

why do they make a point to say it is not associated with apple?  are they trying to let you know this is NOT apple pay?  i'm confused why they require this statement right up front.

Well, I hope it sparks a "Reward War" where the browser companies start to compete with each other to have the biggest reward program to attract users to their platform. I would like to receive a FREE lunch at

the end of every week, for browsing and searching the internet.  Grin

Imagine if other companies start to do the same.... Bitcoins in Games / Bitcoins in Anti virus software / Bitcoin in OS / Bitcoin in Social media ... In the end they pay you to use their software.

Things can still get very interresting, as Bitcoin adoption increase.  Grin

It is real, the sweepstakes sponsor is Microsoft, and the bitcoin card is one of several giveaway prizes that you can independently enter. https://www.bing.com/rewards/redeem/000300000246 - However, you cannot enter without making a Bing Rewards account; even the "no purchase necessary" clause demands that you complete Microsoft's goal, which is to get you (and your info) into Bing:

Quote from: sweepstakes rules
ALTERNATE METHOD OF ENTRY: To enter without purchase and without redeeming any Bing Rewards credits, visit http://www.bing.com/explore/rewards and follow the links and instructions to create an Account (if you do not already have an Account). Then, on a 3" x 5" card or piece of paper, hand-print your full name, complete address, phone number (with area code), date of birth, email address, and the number of the sweepstakes which you wish to be entered into, and mail it to ""Bing Rewards August 2015 Sweepstakes", Free To Enter", P.O. Box 8554, Big Sandy, TX 75755-8554. you will receive one (1) entry into the applicable sweepstakes.

Requests must be postmarked by August 31, 2015 and received by September 8, 2015. Only one (1) entry per envelope allowed. Entries mechanically reproduced or made in any fashion other than as specified herein are void.

Entries submitted by script, macro or other automated or mechanical means, entries by any means which subvert the entry process and entries made in any fashion other than as specified herein are void. All entries become property of the Sponsor and will not be returned.

bing give you free money every 33 days or so.  via rewards.

do 30 searches a day  earn 15 points. at 500 points you can get a 5 dollar amazon card.

To not belong to bing is throwing away money. about eleven  $5 amazon gift cards every year.

Also to not support bing and not enter this contest is to not support BTC

Lol, they bribe people into using their search engine and people still don't use it, it is that bad.

It is not that bad to be honest. I use it occasionally when i need some less biased search results. And the user base of Bing is far bigger than one could think but it is mostly US and CA.

Humans are creatures of habit. Everyone's habit is going on google to search for shit, it's going to be really, really hard to be a competitor as the #1 most used web searcher. Even myself tried to use others, but always end up google'ing it up.

The only thing promotion like this one will do is to bring new customers (mostely not so smart ones) to Microsoft products that noone wants to use for a good reason.
Bing is no match for google, not even by far. The only ones to participate in their promotion is going to be reward hunters, who will abandon it as soon as the rewards
stop coming.

Well it might be, but by then we would have seen a lot of new faces entering the rabbit hole. We should not piss on opportunities like this given by large corporations to help with adoption. It was just sad that it only applied to US citizens.

I guess a global reward program would have cost too much money and the money farmers would have gone into overdrive, if they expanded it. ^hmf^

http://www.coindesk.com/bing-tango-card-bitcoin/

The move suggests a broadening relationship between Microsoft, which owns Bing, and the digital currency. Microsoft added bitcoin as a payment option for digital content in December.

It's not available in my region, but it is neat that Microsoft through Bing is giving people a chance to win prizes Smiley
It's  a bunch of little things that help adoption and interest grow.

Believing in Bitcoins and it's ability to change the world
