My friend sent me this a couple days ago, I mean are programmers still creepy? I know when I tell people I program, they look at me weird and tell me that I should be a business person or something else.

Creepy programmers are as common as blondes who use almost-topless photos as their twitter profile icons for attention whoring.
Prejudices work both ways.

I'm pretty sure that when someone spend years in the darkness of a room, working on a computer, at some point it has to have some negative impact on his physical appearance.

That's right, they're all 40 year old virgins with permabeards who still live in their parents' basement.

Most programmers I know (I am one too) vary from down to earth, calm and collected intellectuals to eccentric genius' who's grasp on reality is a warped. Their is everything in between of course. My favourite programmers are the ones who are bat shit crazy, they are so fascinating to me. I am somewhere in the middle most the time.
We vary a lot. Of course the only people who think we are "creepy" are usually the people looking for attention and actually get it from those who did not actually want it from. Not all of us are blessed with rock star chisel jaw lines. So if someone like herself from the picture provided thinks programmers are creepy, she properly thinks that about a lot of people and it's partially her fault.
I fully admit to being eccentric, but I'm not bat shit crazy yet. Give it time, my fiancée says.

Computer programmers make a lot of money which means they can afford good housing. They also usually have family loving wives and raise children. According to the usnews.com: The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports the median annual wage for computer programmers was $71,380 in 2010. The best-paid 10 percent in the field made approximately $114,180 while the bottom 10 percent made approximately $40,820

I think she's going to attract the creepy programmers because of her picture. Stereotypes attract one another.

Out of curiosity I found her on twitter, some stereotypes are too predictable, She's a Cam Girl. Nothing wrong with it, just found it funny. Now I know why they acted "creepy".

We only come across as creepy due to our introversion. Introverted people aren't going to interact with very active people looking for attention very often.
