It's always amusing to see people conflate bitcoin's success with the "average joe's" awareness or adoption of bitcoin. Despite the mind-numbing, idiotic rhetoric of the self-appointed bitcoin "thought leaders" (with the exception of a few), did it occur to you that maybe bitcoin is not for the average joe? Has the average joe's lack of awareness of any number of financial products, luxury products, or really anything that isn't shit, hurt the success of said product?

We still do not know the definitive answer to this question.
It is possible that bitcoin meet our expectations and become the best Investment of the century, but it is also possible that BTC does not meet our expectations fully.
Only time will tell
For now it seems that the growth of Bitcoin slowed and real profits (until now) are made only by those who have been involved from the very beginning.
Of course, if bitcoin becomes mainstream and globally accepted in the near future we will surely see the rapid growth of the value of Bitcoin and many of us, who hold greater value of bitcoin, will achieve significant earnings.
It is the hope of many bitcoin users, because frankly, most of us are here because of the money and profits and not because of the ideas or ideals.

We can't say Bitcoin Could Be the Best Investment of the Century because no one can predict what will be price after few years. If few more big countries ban bitcoins means the price will be may be double or single digits.

So always investments on fixed property will be the safe and good. Some times it may take few years to grow but surely investor will win.

My father has started taking some interest in Bitcoins, he's not tech savvy by any means, he knows how to use e-mail or google terms but that's it and ever since I have explained him about how bitcoins work he really likes the idea and according to him the bitcoin is still a baby and a very safe investment which will bring about huge returns in future. The thing he really like is the idea of keeping your money safe with yourself without having to rely on anyone else.

I still rate it as a high risk investment in my porfolio. It might be the best investment I have ever made, or it might be the worst one... To hedge against big losses, I have diversified into other

commodities and I keep some of the profits from trading, to reduce the risk.

Would I tell people to sell their houses and invest in Bitcoin... NOPE... Will I tell them to invest some of their savings into Bitcoin... Sure! ...I have already trippled the interest I would have got from banks,

on the BTC I bought with it. If it turns out as the best investment of the century, I would be in a position to say, that I capitilized on the opportunity.

Sometimes is good to be considered crazy.
If you held Apple stocks back in the time and said you would hold long term = you are crazy.
If you held ColaCola stocks back in the time and said you would hold long term = you are crazy.
If you held Berkshire Hathaway stock and you said it would reach 200.000 per share in the next decades = you are insane and put into mental institution.

Most of those rich cats are involved indirectly are backed by the known coinbase or other VC ventures.

So basically they do have a certain amount of bitcoin like you stated how the todays poor will never become rich. But very rare, small group will have a significant gain based on the value going up only cause they had a graphics card to mine with in the early days.
