They say the teeth are important to keep healthy and I get that, but sometimes feel like these dentists are really about making money at our expense.

Thoughts?

Dentists seem to be pricey across all countries.

I'm not against them, but I can't stand having that drill sound going inside my head. Maybe it's just me.

After a while i feel like you just get used to the drilling noise. Its not the noise that really does it for me its just the feeling that you get when the drill or pokey tool touches a cavity.

i don't think that dentists are just after our money. Maybe in America or other countries where a normal visit is very expensive. I am from Macedonia and in my country it is around 12 dollars to get your tooth fixed. That is not expensive at all.

There has already been developed a Vacine against carries, it is the Dentist that is the main reason why this is not public available. Dentist say that it need more "testing".

Humans are only designed to live 20-30 years. It is because of our technolgy development (and not evolution) that humans can live up to 100 years. Therefore is the teeth only designed to last ~30 years.
So if your only planing on living an unatrual long life (all of us are) then should a dentist not be needed.

A man in an alley with a pair of pliers is not a "dentist" lmao

Hi there, I'm from South Africa.
This means I'm poor, I guess.

Find a good one and stick with them. I have been reluctant to change since I found a good one and willing to pay a bit more to not have to worry about bad ones.

I think it depends on when you need it. I do think that going to the dentist twice a year is a bit steep. You only need to go to the doctor once a year and they are checking out multiple parts or your health rather than just your teeth and gums. I usually do not go as often, maybe once a year because as long as you do a good job with brushing and flossing your teeth, it really is not needed to go as often.

They are really more expensive than they need to be. The last time I went in I saw the dentist for like two minutes but had their assistant, or whatever they are called, take care of me for half an hour. I’m sure that poor person makes like $14 and the other couple hundred I spend goes to the dentist. I would rather just take good care of my mouth myself and not spend all of the money.

Then don't go to them and let your teeth rot.  Do you expect them to give you treatment for free or something?

Its a discussion topic not a propaganda thread on killing dentists. Grin
