I recently noticed that EAL wasn't on the DT list, and yet he's a moderator. Why did this happen? I would think that if a member would become a moderator, he'd be trusted enough to be on DT.

Better yet, why is Cyrus (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=78147) not on the DT? Wink

EAL seems pretty shady from what I read (no, i'm not calling them shady). Someone might be worried about him or her leaving trust on alts or "friends" sharing the same IP.

Then if that is the case, then why do they have moderators that they don't trust?

Default Trust is a limited list. As far as I see he's in Depth 3.
Also Lot's of mods are not in it.

You do know that most members on the level 1 default trust don't get to choose who is moderator and who is not? Wink

Being a moderator and being on default trust are two different things. The majority of members on default trust aren't moderators. Staff aren't necessarily trusted as far as trades go, they just need to be reliable with moderation policy.

Dont treat a staff member any different than any other member, we don't have any personal info about each other, and staff could just as easily scam as anyone else.

This exactly. EAL has also been accused by myself and others of engaging in unethical activity on this forum, and was unable to provide a reasonable explanation. Many members of the forum staff are trustworthy but it is due to other reasons than them simply being staff.

Note that in that second mentioned case: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=970157.0 it was proven that he was leaving his alt accounts (pandacoin etc) positive trust from EAL. If he was added to DT I would negative trust him.

That's interesting. Did you mention "do not claim more than once" on your giveaway?

No.
Why are you doing so hard on him? https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1131063.msg11939583#msg11939583
If you didn't mention that "multiple claims are forbidden" then it can't be "unethical or dishonest"...

I don't see any reason why forum moderation, and DT listing should be linked. Sure, the staff should be deamed trusted by administration, but
in the end, they're here to clean the forum and prevent abuse, and they dont need to be on DT to do that .

cheers
