That's because multibit doesn't allow you to import a wallet.dat file.  Why not just send the funds from your old wallet to your new address in MultiBit?

By the way, MultiBit has its own subforum which you should use Smiley

Importing wallets is never, never advice and is a practice to be avoided unless its 100% necessary for some reason. If it isn't, then avoid this by simply moving coins from wallet 1 to wallet 2, simple as that. Why? its simple, to import wallets you need to reveal your private keys and there is a reason why most wallets don't even show your private keys unless you do some geeky stuff. It's basically for protection of the user.

do not import wallet.dat just go to Bitcoin-qt -> help -> about bitcoin -> console tab and run the dumpprivkey command and copy it.

after that you can just import that priv key to your multibit.

IMHO #1.b of suspects, Hal Finney is/was S.N.

You can't import keys into MultiBit anymore. That function was removed. The only thing you can do is to send the Bitcoin from Bitcoin Core to MultiBit.

You can still import to Multibit Classic.
