Who are you, when did you start and how many coins do you have? Smiley
Bitcoin addresses contain a checksum, so it is very unlikely that mistyping an address will cause you to lose money.

looked that bitcoin when it was 30 cents.... that was back in march. I wanted to invest 40% of my savings in it. then all the sudden it went to 60some cents. Anyway I procrastinated for about 2 months tripping on putting money into Jed's account... WHo is Jed?

Finally I did when it it 1.20... then it went to 1.80... I thought it would go down...but it didnt...

I bought 8KBTC @ 1.60 - 2.00... then kept buying till 4...

Sold all at 8...

Bought back in at 9.x yesterday.. Holding these babies... That was a mistake to sell!!!

Disclosure...

Good Point MiningBuddy,  as we have already seen some major BTC losses because of .dat file mismanagement.   BTW what happens to all those coins that are in lost/idle wallets... Does the network "release" them back sometime in the future?   There is no doubt that 100's of thousands of coins will be lost due to mistakes and noobs...

They are actually just lost forever.
You see, there's no way to differentiate over the network, lost bitcoins, versus bitcoins that are just being stored.

You know someone who has more than 298,000 BTC? (298 000 * 13.8 = USD$4,112,400)

There's no hiding your wallet size in Bitcoin. All transactions in and out of every wallet are logged in the blockchain. Granted it doesn't tell how much someone has stored in an exchange like Mt Gox, but I wouldn't mind having a multi-million dollar wallet.

Yes there is. The blockchain only knows about addresses.
It is possible that all the top #100 addresses are from the same wallet. Or several wallets owned by the same person.

at some point, those guys will be billionaires. bitcoin is not going to stop growing until it settles into its market, and even then it will keep growing.
