Lucky that I don't use this online wallet. This is not an online wallet, it is just a brain wallet generator and you can spend the brain wallet on that site (while traditional brain wallets is generated on like bitaddress.org, which works like a paper wallet and you need to sweep it or import it elsewhere). Also it is a signature verifier online, as far as I know no other place is offering this service.

I remember hearing a speech by the Winklevoss and one of the brothers sort of said he used a brainwallet. I hope he didn't loss anything, these guys sure must have tons of BTC everywhere they create a wallet at.

I think this is the reason. Victim probably blaimed brainwallet site and owners didn't want to risk lawsuit.

I don't think you can use a blank password by accident.

I don't understand why would people use online wallets at all while so many other alternatives, local and hardware wallets exist? I mean why would you trust some entity to take care of your money again in your life when finally with Bitcoin you can be your own bank. I always looked at online wallets as some kind of online banks anyways.

People have said that brainwallets aren't save, for as long as I have been on bitcointalk. Users think that their keys are save because their phase is long and unpreditable. I think most phases that people uses aren't. I feel sorry for those lost coins, expensive lesson.

This shows you how fast the actual bitcoin / crypto-currency world is at finding issues and writing code - its very fast moving.

Nope, the code on github was removed as well. So if you didn't have it saved it's gone. This is the only thing left of the github code <!DOCTYPE html> <html><head> <title>Closed Permanently</title> </head><body> <h1>Closed Permanently</h1> </body></html> EDIT: Actually you can get the source code from a previous commit here: https://github.com/brainwallet/brainwallet.github.io/commit/fa462be9af74da30ae7e78203c11b94a0f887539
