Seems about right, Man City are an ageing team though, I think they need more to take the title off Liverpool. David Silva is gone, they still haven’t replaced Kompany with a proper leader. Aguero is getting old as is Fernandinho. De Bruybe is the best player in the league though, will be a battle between the top 2.

They will become the next ac milan, barcelona, and manchester united in the future.
I mean, it is not about the trophy that they will get.  #NoOffense
But, the struggle with their transition from a golden era.

I'm a Barca fan and even I have to admit our spending in recent years has been uncharacteristic of the team I know and love. Remember 10 to 15 years ago, when Liverpool looked like they were in huge debt thanks to their American owners and the same with the Glazers of Man United? People were saying our setup was so unique we were doing well in cash and revenue, because the power of the club was also with the supporters who vote in our governance.

So in a way, you can't say we are the same as United or Chelsea... we still can vote out the people we hate, whereas those clubs cannot.

The EPL is coming back in a few week and its amazing that it wont take long and all this is just because of the Covid-19 lull. I have seen that the French League  (League 1) is back and cant wait for the EPL to return. I am still loyal to Manchester City as my favorite team, and I hope they and Guardiola manage to secure the title for the umpteenth time for Manchester City.

I don't think Manchester city major hunger is the English premier league, am not a Manchester city fan but I would know that the uefa champions league is what is on there mind, pep is not the first to win the English premier league for them but he has been different he had won the domestic double for them which was unbelievable, but still city fans think they have what it take to win the champions league and pep needs to win this for them.

Last year when I made a new thread for Spanish league I got some requests to do the one for Premier League as well. The time has come and I decided to make one before the new season starts. The OP has not been active for 3+ years and Premier League deserves and active thread with poll and maybe some other features thrown in the mix as well.

Please move all future conversations to the new thread and let this one go to deserved retirement. It has served as well with 1800+ pages.

I'm also ok with City being the favorites on paper. Liverpool lacks some depth and the bookies know it, City has way more rotation options and starting 11 quality is similar.

Liverpool is never the favorite until, 7 matches has been played and they have won all seven the season before this one was won by Manchester united, but at a point in the league Liverpool was the favorite.
And this present concluded season they where the favorite and they won the league.
This time i would not overlook there strength/team . Liverpool would be my favorite team to win the next Season English premier league.

Great one. Chelsea have been buying some really good players and transfer window hasn't closed yet so there is still possible they might get some few more big names. With the squad they have right now , they are also a real contender to win PL this upcoming season and with that odds its worth taking a shot. Gj Globb getting that one.

@Globb0 I think it’s too early to wager on Liverpool, because if Van Dijk suffers a long term injury then Liverpool’s defence may not be as good as it was in the last season. Furthermore Manchester City have the player’s that can challenge Liverpool, and since it might be Pep last season in Manchester they’ll be extra motivated to win it for him.

@Avirunes someone needs to tell Chelsea that we’re in the middle of the pandemic, and they need to stop buying the best player’s available in the market. Lastly with the squad Chelsea has gathered I’ll be disappointed if they don’t compete for the title, however I’m not expecting them to win it because Lampard doesn’t have the vast experience like Klopp and Pep have.

Everything's cool but it looks too beautiful on paper, Do you think that even Lampart will make it all so easy? It is not that easy. Names won't play themselves and I don't think I'll give you examples because they're everywhere even for the fan in slippers. Chelsea max 3-4 this season. Next year - maybe even the champion.

It can be not a serious injury for Van Dijk and Liverpool won't be affected too bad from it but I see it as a warning for them. Van Dijk is very important for Liverpool and the matter is last 2 seasons he did not get too many injuries and no serious injury. It has been good for him and Liverpool last 2 seasons.

I can not imagine how Liverpool's defense system will be if Van Dijk will be off 3 or 6 months. I don't know and from their transfer strategies, they looks very confident on their squad and substitutes, no good plans to improve their defense system or have a good substitute for Van Dijk.

Manchester City and Chelsea by now of the transfer season, they did not make big transfers for defenders. It seems in the new season, we will have more open games.

@DeathAngel yea that injury he had suffered few days ago, and now I believe he should be fit to play for Liverpool so no need to worry about his fitness. Also Manchester United fans might have got a glimpse about what they should expect from their team, as Manchester United were beaten 1 - 0 by Aston Villa in a friendly fixture.

Jose Mourinho started the bad resul match with Tottenham with a pretty bad result, they had to surrender to Everton, who was a guest team. A result that is not very desirable for Jose Mourinho considering that last season they failed to finish in the top four, will be a warning for Jose Mourinho to continue his career as a coach at Tottenham if he continues to get minor results. Maybe first match have chance to get good relust on second match but not give guarantee for Jose Mourinho become head coach of Tottenham Hotspur.

I was expecting Everton to win and one more goal but they ruined my party. I think Chelsea match is not going to be easy since Leeds are not that bad team as I thought at the earlier stage. They can take on against any team. Utd are always unexpected. To me City match is comparatively easy match for them and they are already in a lead now.

I am not focusing on any of these matches since I have to watch Liverpool match for the whole 90+ minutes 😛
It's not gonna be easy against current Wolves but we should win the match.

Watched the everton game and I could not help but notice that their attacking system that worked for them earlier is been understood by teams. The attack seems to be cross in the ball and hope calvert or any of their attacker is there to slot home the ball, they need more midfield battle winning the will not win much matches if they continue to attack the way they do, burnley did not play better, draw was a fair result.
