The problem is anyone can make coin .....THE CRYPT O WORLD IS BASE ON TRUST WELL THESE DAYS YOU CAN'T TRUST ANYONE ANYMORE  SO IM GLAD I SOLD MINE YESTERDAY ,,,,,,,, so many people will get scam   we need to b  regulated time has come to that ......... everyone want to get rich on other people misery and that the truth shame on you scammers and i really hate scammers cause i been scam before as many as you ......

Sorry to say mate, but you are very naive, if you seriously believe that regulations are doing anything good against scams. Regulation is institutionalizing scams and giving a share to the regulating authority. Just take a look at the 2007-2008 financial crisis. Some of the biggest well regulated banks, insurers and credit rating agencies were caught on scamming. What happened to those people who is responsible for ruining countries and million of lives, for their personal gains? Actually nothing happened to them. Same thing with rigging the libor, gold prices, and the list of manipulated financial vehicles is endless. Just like here...

Can someone tell me where in Ether explorer you can find the total amount of "coins" or Ethers. Is it not there? ...or have I lost it...Where is a source of the total number of coins used by Coinmarketcap etc.??

https://www.etherchain.org/

I did find this useful thread: https://forum.ethereum.org/discussion/1451/how-many-ethers-will-ever-exist

According to this: 60 mln presale + 2 pools of 6 mln
And then 15mln each year.

This info is missing on the etherchain site (just as it's missing an explanation on all these currency units they are using).

Thank you, so this is what I get from StephanTual (who is listed as Job title: CCO Ethereum and admin on the Ethereum forum)

(i) There is no maximum number of Ethers
(ii) 60,102,216 ethers were created during the sale. plus 2x pools of 9.9% each (this is not very clear?? the two pools).
(iii) 26% of 60,102,216 will be created through mining every year. This means that 15,626,576 will be created every year on top of the 60m and the two pools.
(iv) After a while, 15,626,576 ether won't represent much of the total ether available, making the system dis-inflationary (i.e., inflation perpetually trending towards 0 but never reaching it).

So, we have 60M Ethers now and next year 75M, then 90M and so on, so Ethers will then clearly drop in value as time passes. This is akin to quantitative easing, no? The system will keep generating "coins".

In addition to that we are told that Ethers are no currency but "fuel for Ethereum.

There can only ever be 93 Mil ETH - https://www.reddit.com/r/ethtrader/comments/3fxff9/achtung_what_all_eth_investors_must_realize/

There is a time bomb built into code to force a change over to POS within 16 months. And no more ETH will be created after that. So zero or close to inflation.

Excellent points. You can't regulate away greed. It will always find a way around. With that said, losers simply need to grow a brain and stop chasing every new coin that comes out, or seems too good to be true.
There are plenty of mature and honest coins out there that offer modest long-term returns. Find them, invest, and live happily ever after.

Thats interesting,  Stephan Tual (CCO Ethereum) then is wrong in his earlier statement that there is no maximum of Ethers and that mining is endless. They seemed to have changed their minds then and what makes anyone think that they will not change their minds again.

Because they built a time bomb into coding that would render it useless otherwise, forcing them to commit.

I missed the ICO and came across ETC - Ethercoin on Bittrex and they were going to exchange their coins for ETH once released, I picked up a few but got rid of them just before the ETH release at a small profit as it seemed to look like there would be a massive dump before a stable price would take place as all the ICO folk would no doubt unload their coins after waiting so long.

Ethereum started trading 2 days ago and the price is already collapsing 80%!

Are you thinking about buying Ethereum? - Don't, Stay out!

Do you have ethereum from the pre-sale? - Dump them as soon as you can!

During the past 2 days around 1 Million ethereum coins were dumped, this made the price collapse by 80% so far, now consider this:

- The IPO was not publicly and officially announced - They did this on purpose so their inner group or closests friends could dump first. (There is no info about exchanges on their website)

- On the pre-sale back in 2014, 60 Million coins were sold, or in other words, 60 million coins were PRE-MINED, and they are pretty much the total supply of today - you can check more details about the pre-sale here: http://ether.fund

- In the past 2 days only around 1% of the pre-sale coins were sold

Now you have to ask yourselves:

If a coin which was 100% PRE-MINED, gets a silent IPO which it was not even officially announced, only 1% of the pre-sale buyers know about it (or not even), only 1% of the supply gets dumped, and the price collapses by 80%?

Now what will happen when the IPO is officially announced with the rest of the 60 Million coins ready to be dumped???

Also, an interesting video: http://youtube.com/watch?v=IN-QpuXIJtM

Their official website: http://ethereum.org
Exchange: http://kraken.com - pair ETH/XBT (ETH/BTC)

you are a newbie account.

Sorry if I got misunderstood, the joke is on ridery99 for making an obvious statement but at the same time not saying anything else. Of course we don't know who is behind a Newbie account and what their experience is so all credit to you, this was directed towards ridery99 for making a nonsensical statement.

ED: I think it's called irony (for ridery99)

Is this the next Paycoin fiasco?

Nothing will Rival the paycoin fiasco, at least with ethereum if it does go down as a scam only speculators and ICO investors will be screwed

with Paycoin he scamed housewives , regular 9-5vers who were just dipping their feet into the cloud mining thing.  Bascially he scammed a HUGE cross section

of the general ecosystem and basically soured the average joe on digital currencies

Is this the next Paycoin fiasco?

looks like so, after or even if when the deposit delays are lifted I expect prices to go down as ICO people take profits (+0.001) from n00b traders who have buys orders above 0.001

I have also some ETC on Bettrex and dont know how to go forward.
so the coins will be changed automaticalle into ETH if the released on Bittrex ? when ? and where does thins information come from.
or is it easier to go the way over https://www.kraken.com/ether ?
for me it makes no sense to hold the ETC because the will dying, right ?
