American comedian and producer Louis Székely, professionally known as Louis C.K has started to accept bitcoin payments for his comedy show performed at Madison Square Garden.

The audio-only show can be purchased with bitcoin through BitPay, and customers can choose the price for this audio album. Louis CK mentioned on his website:

“We have the price set to 5 dollars but you can lower it to 1 dollar or raise it to 85. that's the maximum, because beyond that, I don't want your crazy money.”

Louis C.K is the first comedian ever to accept bitcoin for comedy albums and shows.

You can read full article write here : http://cointelegraph.com/news/115085/comedian-louis-ck-begins-accepting-bitcoin

There is also a fan who said : "“I was actually just looking for some standup comedy on Youtube, then noticed this post. Best $10 ever spent.”

I personally don't know this guy because I'am not from USA and never heard of him or saw him on TV but he seems like a celebrity and it's nice to see Celebrities like him and Mike Tayson coming to Bitcoin world Smiley What do you guys think ??. Also in case you want to support the guy here is his website : louisck.net , He added Bitpay on the payment methods .

The more the merrier and he is a big deal. It's weird that Bitpay is listed as a payment option on his site and not Bitcoin.

He chose bitpay probably because they auto convert the btc to usd and then send to his bank account. Most services who accept bitcoin throw bitpay actually only receive usd and not bitcoin.

I know that, but the payment option should be named Bitcoin, not Bitpay. There might be BTC holders in far off lands who've never heard of Bitpay.

Most people like two best things in the world: porn and comedy. Now, both of those have got into bitcoin, and sooner or later bitcoin will be known by all people in the world, no doubt about it. Like OP said, I dont know who that guy is, but he is awesome.

Sooo great!  And CK is a pioneer in comedy, he was the first to make his own special on his dime and sell it on his site for $5, looks like the innovation will continue.

Cheers!

Excellent news! The more people in the public eye who accept bitcoin the better for us. It gives us exposure & more chance of bitcoin reaching out to average joe. I'm not from the US so I haven't heard of Louis C.K, is he a big deal over in the US?

Obviously Madison Square Garden is a massively famous venue, I just hope this news reaches a lot of potential investors.

I don't think that he cares about bitcoin at all.  He only cares about USD, I mean why would they choose to use a bitcoin payment processing ? He could directly receive bitcoin a public address (if there is one).

Caring about bitcoin doesn't matter.  The more that places accept bitcoin as a method of payment, the more it will grow.

If you want mainstream adoption, we need someone like Ticketmaster to accept BTC. Either through Bitpay, which is meh but still would be good publicity, or directly which would be huge. I personally despise Ticketmaster, but for the most part they are the only game in town for most big venues.

This is awesome news! Cheesy Louis CK is a hilarious guy, and he doesn't have a rap sheet like Mike Tyson to criticize.

We work hard to promote Bitcoin adoption and the decentralization of society. You can support our efforts by donating BTC to 35wDNxFhDB6Ss8fgijUUpn2Yx6sggDgGqS

Bitpay found a great niche to facilitate bitcoin payments AND get more press and notable people, organizations, and causes to accept bitcoin for payment.

Louis C.K. is great...check out his comedy, buy this show (give him BTC0.05, he's worth it), enjoy it, then check out some of his other work. He has a TV show called Louie as well. He's quite well known in the business.

Sometime we need a movement by the celebrities for bitcoin to gain popularity in society imo.

It's sad but that's how Macs got so popular, a more expensive laptop with less functionality yet used by celebs so bought often by college freshman.
The first criteria people have when buy something is the brand, thats why Apples products always be popular, no matter what the function of those products. Well I hope when bitcoin used by many celebs, then people could be interested with that and they will know that bitcoin have many advantages with it.

This is probably the most chatter he's gotten in a while

haha

I used to watch his show but when I got new cable he fell off my dvr schedule

Good for btc that he is taking it even if off of bitpay

Shows you how 'mainstream' and 'hip' it is becoming

Now if a major singer would just say here is my new song and YOU MUST USE BTC

Bingo instant major news in a positive light
