It's only a matter of time until ALL mainstream companies are accepting bitcoin...this is only the beginning! Have some faith and some patience and we'll be getting big news like this once a month.

This and the combination of Bitpay's service is going to make using bitcoin completely acceptable and feasible for major corporations. Corporations will always follow the money, as long as there is minimal risk they'll lose money in the process.

Yea, this is old news... but it brings up a lot of good memories... We brigaded the X-Box Reddit threads and made the Satoshi's rain on those guys and gals. Here is one of

those threads https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/2oxkgr/you_can_now_buy_xbox_credit_with_bitcoin/

When things like this happens the Shills come crawling out of the troll caves and they start spewing negative things about Bitcoin, to stop the tide. The world is such a

silly place... people getting paid to talk smack about something... Wow what people will not do for money.. and power.

Tell your merchants there that you have a demand to use Bitcoin and if enough do this they will start to accept it!

but and overstock and rakuten that has online shops in europe why didnt accept bitcoin?

I think it is great the some big companies are starting to accept BTC. It raises awareness and gives the ecosystem more legitimacy.

However I don't believe that it is going to drive adoption. The average person needs a reason to use BTC. Why would someone pay with BTC when they can pay with a method that is just as easy and they have been using their whole life? Companies need to users a REASON to use BTC (reduce prices due to no credit card fees etc).

There is probably less demand in Europe to use it and Europe may not have things like bitpay to auto exchange the funds into fiat for the marketplace.

Coinbase and Bitpay are happily processing away payments in Europe. The EU probably has more friendly banking options than the US too. I don't get why so many companies haven't implemented payments there yet.

I agree that some discounts would drive the audience more, but for that to work, there should be a banner or something saying "save off 10% by using Bitcoin" or the like.

However, the simple fact that they are accepting it would probably make some people adopt it. That was the case for me, I got into bitcoin when I noticed that a paid traffic exchange that I used was accepting it. It was like, Bitcoin? what is this? then I researched and ended using it.

Same can happen with this (I hope)

That can work with a minority of believers.

It really needs to get to a point where it's a no brainer for a consumer for it to be widely adopted. It also needs to be demonstrably better than existing options to nudge people into making the change.

Discounts would easily do it but margins are usually too tight for that to be sustainable or offer a big enough discount for a casual user to bother. 1-3% isn't going to be enough.

I guess brighter minds than mine will come up with something.

One idea that I have heard and would be great is introducing satoshis as the digital currency in online games. Picture a massive RPG like WOW using satoshis instead of some fake ingame coin. When all those gamers learnt that they could buy real things with the money earned in games, it would be an advance.

To buy armor, better swords, magical items etc. they'll have to use satoshis. Doesn´t it sound good?

But this is easier said than done, and there is no direct benefit to the gaming company in implementing this.
