Hi,
Well I think we should make a list of all awesome projects that are going on!

  • Bitcoin - www.bitcoin.org & www.bitcointalk.org - A digital decentralized currency
  • Arduino - http://www.arduino.cc/ - Extensible, open source programable microcontroller, you can do A LOT with Arduino, the possibilities are infinite.
  • JMEMantzel - www.youtube.com/user/JMEMantzel & www.jamius.com - Built his own house (geodesmic dome) in the woods on a mountain! And then built a workshop (which is actually a airplane hangar) there too. He builds a giant spider robot in that workshop and he also works on a small toy version of it for a company.
  • RepRap - www.reprap.org - [DIY] a 3D printer that you can make yourself, certainly worth to check out!
  • Ripple - www.ripple-project.org/ - A decentralized payment network
  • Open Source Ecology - http://opensourceecology.org/ - Open source heavy machinery for agriculture, construction and for building a small civilization.
  • Raspberry Pi - www.raspberrypi.org - A very small and cheap  (25$) computer which is able to run linux! It uses an HDMI or RCA outlet to a TV as monitor.
  • The 10,000 Year Clock - www.longnow.org/clock/ - A big-ass clock that will lasy for 10,000 years which is mounted into a mountain
  • 100 Year Starship - www.100yss.org/ - A project dedicated to space exploration beyond our solar system
  • Icarus Interstellar - www.icarusinterstellar.org/ - Exploring the Universe: Multiple Projects going on there!
  • DIASPORA* - http://diasporaproject.org/ - DIASPORA* is a free personal web server that implements a distributed social networking service. Installations of the software form nodes (termed "pods") which make up the distributed Diaspora social network.
  • Friendica - http://friendica.com/ - Somebody has to stand up for the people of the Internet. This is why the Friendica Project exists. Friendica is our alternative to those "creepy" social networks.
  • RetroShare - http://retroshare.sourceforge.net/ - RetroShare is free software for encrypted, serverless email, Instant messaging, BBS and filesharing based on a friend-to-friend network built on GPG.
  • Internet Archive Wayback Machine - http://archive.org/web/web.php - Browse archived web pages.
  • Coursera - https://www.coursera.org/ - Courses available online.
  • Free State Project - http://freestateproject.org - concentrating liberty lovers in one place so they can actually try to live free
  • Shire Sharing - http://shiresharing.org - voluntary charity (currently working on collecting donations for Thanksgiving, accepts bitcoins and Shire Silver)
  • Shire Society - http://shiresociety.com - voluntary society
  • Shire Silver - http://shiresilver.com - public domain physical precious metals for anonymous in-person trading.
  • TED - http://www.ted.com
  • Kahn Academy - http://www.khanacademy.org

Once a transaction has 6 confirmations, it is extremely unlikely that an attacker without at least 50% of the network's computation power would be able to reverse it.

- Added, it looks interesting!

Added both!
- Truly inspiring project! I will certainly keep this site in the back of my head, I really like the bioplastic extruder.
- I was going to put Arduino in there too, great project too.

Is Anon+ still ongoing? That seems better than Diaspora to me.
What is the open/P2P DNS project?

Not sure if this counts, but DefCad is a project aimed at uncensoring the 3D printer, from medical equipment to weaponry, which other file sites refuse to keep.

Anyhow, really cool list!  I'll have to check all of these out soon.
