Sorry if my question is off, but don't really understand this...
Is shift like a search engine, like Google or what?
No, SHIFT will be used to host decentralized websites. Example: You made a website, uploaded it to SHIFT's Phantom dApp and it will be hosted on many servers (example:50 servers) and you can point your domain towards your Phantom hosted site thanks to the JENGA solution. Also, such hosted websites are harder to DDOS and censor by the government (let them try to shutdown 100's of servers )! When will this be possible? Any Roadmap or plans for this exactly? First they will release their new website (till end of December) on testnet and then we can only wait for the full Phantom release to be implemented on the mainnet, it needs to be stable. Here's the latest newsletter from SHIFT's team: https://www.shiftnrg.org/newsletter-november/#phantomDon't forget to mention as it's not clear to newcomers that the launch of the new Website is a very significant milestone as the website will be hosted on the flagship product (Phantom) that everyone's been waiting for. It will be hosted on the testnet client and first and then pushed out to mainnet shortly after once proved out.

Sup folks,
pls don't kill me, but I've failed to figure this out on my own for the last hour. So I've just voted for 10 delegates which are now sitting under "my votes". Do I have to send them additional SHIFT in order for the staking to work? If so, how much? Is the share payout at the end of each month?
Sorry for all the noob questions, but it's my first time staking, heh.
Hi, you dont have to send any shifts to the delegates. take a look at this site please: https://dpostools.com/SHIFTthere you can see which delegates share their forged shifts; how much percent, how often and whats the minimum amount. it all depends how much shifts are in your voting wallet. on dpostools you can calculate the rewards. If you have around 10000 Shifts in your wallet, your reward from all active pools is around 50 (~200$) shifts per month. best regards

Thanks man!
Does this mean I should always vote for the max. amount of delegates (33)? How long will my vote last? Indefinitely until I cancel my current delegate array?

Hey there, 1. The max amount of delegates you can vote for is 101, but only 33 in one go. 2. You technically could vote for all pools and thus get the highest profit, but you should make sure they are trustworthy, online on Ryver (or per E-Mail), have an extreme high uptime and support the testnet 3. AFAIK There is no difference currently in your voting weight no matter if you vote for only 1 delegate or 101. However, I think it was mentioned that this could change, so that the smaller stakeholders get more "powerful" in comparision to the big stakeholders. If this is going to happen, there definitely will be announcement. 4. Your votes are casted indefinitely until you remove them from your vote list. Hope I could help out. If you have anymore questions, feel free to ask! There aren't any stupid questions - Daniel

I think the main difference here is Shift is utilizing IPFS, which if you are not familiar with, may be something you want to research a bit. It's crazy Tron is now valued at over 3 billion dollars while Shift is only at 40m... that's nearly a 100x difference. If the Shift Team pulls off something big this month, sky is the limit in this raging bull market.

If you have anymore questions, feel free to ask! There aren't any stupid questions - Daniel I have kind of a related question about DPoS in general... Let's say I vote for 10 delegates. Then let's say I forget to monitor them, and 5 of my 10 fall out of the top 101, so only half of my chosen delegates are actually forging. Does that mean that I would only get half of the rewards I 'should' get, because half of my vote is being wasted (not really wasted, but you know what I mean), or does the weight of my vote redistribute itself to the delegates that are still forging, so that my rewards stay the same?

Alrighty, that's simple. Let's say you voted for 10 delegates that give out 80% of their rewards. You get your fair share, as long as these delegates are forging. If 5 of them fall out, you don't get any rewards from them anymore, because they don't get any rewards. Only you vote for delegates and it doesn't adjust itself. That might have been a bit confusing, so tell me if I need to explain in greater detail

Substratum doesn't have anything as far as I know and all hype. look at the cap and compare, too much value in shift.

Why Shift? Web hosting is a huge industry. Decentralized hosting is the next big thing on the web. Shift is offering FREE web hosting with storage. What blogger / small time business wouldn't love that? Shift is building on IPFS protocol which is far superior to HTTP / HTTPS protocol. DDOS resistant. This is the first project to make this happen and convert DNS traffic using their project "Jenga" to make it accessible to everyday users without the installation of 3rd party software which current IPFS sites require. The community is great. The devs are great. A few reads: https://techcrunch.com/2015/10/04/why-the-internet-needs-ipfs-before-its-too-late/Uncensorable. Proven: http://observer.com/2017/05/turkey-wikipedia-ipfs/Long term investment for people in the states...This is the one with new tax laws about to take place. Proof of stake is amazing and a great passive income. This coin could easily go $1000+ in the coming years. Best of luck to everyone who is already holding long. Focus on the end game! HODL! I researched a lot of alt coins.. I was a large holder of Verge and Bitbay. Both mooned. This is my favorite long term holder as I earn almost 600-700 coins a year by current calculations. Just my 2 cents... Good luck everyone. All the information you currently need can be found in the news letters on the site. The new website with updated roadmap / dev info will be posted end Q4 2017. Just a few days...This will be top 100 very soon then top 50. No ICO / No marketing to date... Marketing will begin on the site release. They believe in their product as do I. It will be a great asset to the entire community.
