Bitcoin was an awesome experiment.  We all learned a great deal of cool stuff.

But let's face it - it is probably over now.  With this major fracture and groups of core devs fighting and going in two directions, it can be long before the whole package unravels.  But all is OK!  No problem.  Something great will rise from its ashes.  Maybe that new system will be called Phoenix.  There is no doubt a great new crypto will soon take bitcoin's place.

What do you think the new crypto system will look like?  FedCoin?  Etherium?  Litecoin?  Phoenix?  Give a few sentences about how you see the next step as we move on from Bitcoin.

Bitcoin can and will keep on truckin'. The current devs aren't the only devs. This bank heist style take over that XT is trying is really putting a damper on things, but we don't need devs maintaining to keep bitcoin alive everyday. It can continue to operate from miners and users. Other devs will come along that are smarter and more mature.

i know that i will buy a shit tons just in case

@OP and i'm not sure if you can really consider it an experiment and nothing else, most of the great stuff begin as an experiment, and then explode into something that will be ordinary for everyone

Bitcoin is still just an experiment, but the experiment that has the highest chances of succeeding nevertheless. If it fails, there are tons of coins that might be ready to replace it.

I see a block size problem as just one hurdle that Bitcoin needs to jump over. I don't think Bitcoin will stumble on this hurdle. But if it does, it will be open competition, so let the best out there wins, just like it was happening 100s of times so far in the real life and in the business world.

Experiment? Really?

There are huge investments in BTC. BTC is now accepted as hedging instrument. It s getting bigger and bigger.
If BTC dissappears, there will not be decentrilized coin in the near future. There can be alternatives which are supported by organizations, unions or countries. However BTC is the first and amiral ship of all digital coins.

It is a revolutinary act, to keep our privacy safe.Long life BTC.

Bitcoin is an experiment not was, but it's far from over. Let the future reveal that not just spread fud and make half assed speculative guesses on something you cannot know. Bitcoin will likely get through this whole fiasco soon enough.

a lot of businesses will lose shitload of money if this happens as you are saying ,and if exchange really see that it's gonna die they would probably close and sell all their bitcoins no one will take such a risk so yeah a 4 billion marketcap dying won't happen that easy i guess.
But "if" it happens , DASH or Ethereum may replace them , most likely DASH because Ethereum seems too complicated to understand

There's an entire website dedicated to collect bitcoin demise predictions, guess what, all of them were wrong.

This experiment isn't over yet. Smiley

If you believe that, you need to be paying more attention to the security issues that arise in Bitcoin and are fixed (to which many altcoins are still vulnerable, I'd add). Most recently, what are referred to only as "serious DoS issues": https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/3bc79s/cve20153641_bitcoind_unspecified_dos/

Losing the Bitcoin developers isn't the end of the world, but unless someone has a funding model to source replacements, yes, we have a problem.

Ethereum is already beginning to replace Bitcoin.

Ethereum is a million times easier to develop on than any other altcoin and Bitcoin.  Already the Bitcoin royalty public figureheads are already backing it.  Bitcoin is tainted in the public mind by pedos and drugs and silkroad.  Ethereum will succeed in the mainstream where Bitcoin failed.  Anyone with a brain can see where this is heading.

The butthurt is real. I wouldn't have even heard of NXT if your little crew didn't make it their life's mission to spread FUD about Ethereum. The price action shows, NXT is getting slaughtered by Ethereum. Anyone with a brain got the f out of your little scamcoin.
