the i3 will be faster, but really these laptops are only good for web browsing and checking emails.

I have no idea, why is the first one better?
well they are pretty much the same only first one has processor with speed of 2.16 ghz and second with 1.9 ghz

Speed is great, its mostly for web browsing and youtube, running business etc.

What is the next step up to get more power,any examples? how much do i have to spend? need to be under £400 really.

Try searching up "best laptops for under $400" (Or pounds) and read reviews there.

Looking at these two laptops though, I'd probably choose the first one.
