You should beware of new users being more then wiling to pay exorbitant rates for their PayPal. The catch is that they will most likely be using stolen funds that will later get charged back (or the funds will otherwise get charged back). Using escrow will not protect against charge backs although it will guarantee that you receive PayPal funds initially (if that means anything to you).

It is pretty rare that I see people reputable enough to accept PayPal from be willing to pay the rate you are looking for. In general, people who it would be prudent to accept PayPal from are willing to pay in the range of 5-7% above the market rate and if you were to offer that rate you would probably quickly find someone to buy your Bitcoin.

I do however think you should not accept PayPal in the first place because of its reversible nature, you are taking the risk that someone will be pulling a long con and the funds you accept get reversed. In my opinion the risk is not worth the additional premium you will get.

I appreciate the person warning you against Paypal, however, they fail to remember that everyone starts out as a new user. I made an account because I was tired of using Coinbase and coin.mx . I would be willing to use a site other than Paypal if they felt it was safer.

You can't go around being suspicious of every person you meet. Not all of us are trying to scam, some of us are just trying to do honest business.

You are correct that everyone starts out as a new user, however before it would be a good idea to accept a reversible payment method from a user, they should first build up a solid history of trading honestly with other users.

The only time I would ever consider accepting PayPal for Bitcoin is if I needed to buy something online that does not accept Bitcoin and only for small amounts (~$100) and only from reputable members that have an extensive trading history of being trusted by others with larger amounts.

You can do trades that involve you buying Bitcoin with cash and similar methods (eg bank deposit, western union, ect). These types of trades do not involve the other party needing to trust you because you cannot reverse a cash payment (and escrow can be used to protect both sides of the transaction).

Sure, if the OP would be interested in using something like Western Union or another service to do the transaction, I'd be more than willing to. I'm just looking for $60 worth; if that's too high then I'd be happy to come down to a more trusting rate. I've seen plenty of scams and have been scammed personally so I can understand taking precautions and am willing to bend to them.
