I would rather pay the money, so I know its capable of doing the job. My guess is one was made before you made the post and the cheaper one was mass produced after. Not gonna fall for this trick, give me the higher priced one all day.

I just tossed one of these that used to go with our old AIX server. $1600 wasted

I remember when cheap software modems came out they really sucked. The hardware USRs were like 5x times the price but at least they worked and were much faster.

My first modem experience was at 2400 baud.
