Hi, if I bought a product from SPAIN and got it delivered to UK then will I be charged any VAT or DUTY? I'm unsure because I bought a phone from AMAZON.DE once and I was not charged anything. I also bought an item from a bitcointalk member from Belgium and I was not charged anything. So will I be charged import VAT if I import from Spain? Thanks

If VAT/duty was not included in the price, you might have to pay it upon arrival. Not every time, it is like spot checks. Not sure if you could expect a fine though.

This really depends on the sender, the value and whatnot. If you bought online (outside of EU) then you probably are going to have to pay taxes. Since it is imported from within the EU, you are not going to  have to pay customs duties. More information can be found in that link.

hi, thanks so much for the help. On the phone, there is already Spanish VAT on it. Its just that it comes with a free battery pack and is still cheaper. So because there is already spanish VAT on it, then do I NOT have to pay UK VAT?

BUMP- STILL LOOKING FOR HELP/SUGGESTIONS;

If I import a mobile phone from spain into UK, 21% VAT (CALLED IVA in SPAIN) is already paid on the phone. Thus, do I have to pay VAT again when it goes through customs? thanks

I don't have time to do the homework for you. This should pretty much answer your question if you read everything.
Good luck with your purchase.

LaudaM already gave you your answer and a link to it so what more do you want? If you're in the EU and order from within the EU you shouldn't have to pay taxes. Almost pointless doing it just for a free battery pack though because you usually run into difficulties if you need to send it back under warranty etc which makes it not worth it.
