What the actual hell is going on here , I'am pretty sure it's just a shitty counter and it's not real nodes or anything ...
As some of you may know , website has been ddosed but it's back up right now : https://voat.co/v/bitcoin/comments/446186 (nop it's not Satoshi)

Look this chart right here , we was simply at around 900 nodes like we are now and suddenly it went to 4600 nodes like hell and now it's back to around 900 however the Non-XT nodes are at 9000 which probably never happened on the last year/ few months ?  Undecided It seems like they are the BitcoinXT nodes that we had for few hours or whatever (~4000 as I said) + the real Bitcoin Core nodes

Something Phishy is  happening here or I'am missing something that's for sure

It is pretty easy to explain:
You can make nodes, that don't do anything at all. You might be able to make 100 nodes on your PC, if you know how(I guess it is even more)

BitcoinXT or Bitcoin Core is just a string the clients send. You can change it, when ever you like.

So, node-count is easily manipulated. That is pretty much the reason, why Satoshi invented POW in the first place.

Must be some manipulation or a bug. But pretty sure that this isn't not real and representative.
This is an overall jump of nodes from 6000 to over 14,000 in less than 24 hours. No no no something is wrong here that's for sure.

Ah ok thanks for that explanation. So this means both sites are now manipulating the node counter right? Hence this is no real indicator to work with.

I'm guessing it's just a proof-of-concept showing how easy it is to manipulate nodes(?) as the high number of nodes was not sustained (at least according to https://getaddr.bitnodes.io/).

Thank you for your explanation but the manipulation level is so fucking high lol ...
It just dropped back to 6555 nodes for the Non-XT nodes and for the mined blocks it went from 5 to 4 ? how is that possible ? shouldn't be done once it's mined ? I mean if it's mined then it's mined , how it can decrease  Huh http://xtnodes.com/xt_blocks_pie_chart.php

It's about how many of the last 1000 blocks, have the new version number(otherwise the piechart wouldn't make much sense).

So, node-count is easily manipulated.

exactly this, this is what i don't like, how people can manipulate things, btw ,in the end thats not the real problem, the real problem is the people who didnt notice it and believe on "ghosts". The lack of information is a real problem.

Well I guess that the only way to fight a manipulation is to manipulate back! Smiley It's either this or this really is a bug of some sort, I don't see a third explanation.

Since the fishy thing OP is talking about is the number of nodes shown in xtnodes.com then it's just some manipulation. Someone's trying to prove a point and that point is that it's extremely easy to create spoofed nodes and fool bitnodes, the project counting nodes.

These kind of experiments are valuable to settle the idea that the node count can be spoofed, but it will not stand up to closer scrutiny. You would need to find a way to bypass the

single IP source for these nodes. It's not to say that multiple legit nodes cannot reside under one IP though... Our green network only have one single point of entry and the rest is

obscured behind tons of firewalls and VPN's etc.... It will lift a great deal of eyebrows if the node count suddenly doubles in one or two months though.  Roll Eyes

Some people would go to great extremes to cheat the system.... for monetary gain in the future.  Angry

It means node count can be easily manipulated. But, it only lasts for few hours (for this time_
I think Gavin or XT supporters could use this way to get "75% adopter" by the next year
Node count is easily manipulated, so it is not a good metric of support (as we can see here). For support they are looking for 750 of the last 1000 blocks mined that contain a different version number which indicates that that block supports Bitcoin XT

But, i don't understand why there are BIP 101 blocks ? Isn't it means bitcoin already splits into 2 seperate blockchain Huh
BIP 101 blocks have a different version number that means that that block and miner supports XT. Those blocks are still valid since the fork has not yet happened.

what is this NODE and XT thing guys ???i just dont get it

Thank you
Full Nodes a clients on the Bitcoin Network that verify all blocks and transactions. XT happens to be a full node but is modified so that it follows different rules. Blocks mined through XT will have a different version number and it will cause a hard fork of the blockchain when 750 of the last 1000 blocks use its version number.

Most of those bitcoin XT nodes are running on a free trial VPS. The counter is right but once the VPS trials run out the node number will get down, but I think that gavin will deploy more bitcoin XT nodes on new VPS.

The node count doesn't matter folks. The only counter that matters is the blocks mined percentage.  It can't be faked, and is the only thing that decides when XT begins allowing larger blocks.  It's currently at 0.5% and needs to get to 75%.

XT is digging itself a fake grave.
Are you trolling or are you an idiot?
This fake nodes are from people, who are against XT, since they want to proof, that node count doesn't matter, although, I don't remember anybody well-known in the community ever claiming that node-count matters.

It can happen in three ways.

1. Anti-XT manipulating it to prove node count does not matter.
2. Pro-XT manipulating it to make us think number of XT nodes are greater.
3. Anti-Bitcoinist manipulating it to make us think either of the above is happening.
