DECENT ICO Escrow


To ensure that every participant in DECENT ICO will join the blockchain driven future of media with a confidence in our ability to keep the funds safe, we came up with a solution. All funds went directly into Coinbase 2-of-3 multi-signature vault. Meaning that, in order to withdraw the funds, 2 out of three signees need to agree on it.

DECENT has partnered with two reputable professionals who will represent the assurance of DECENT funds. Each of them will keep one key to the multi-signature vault.

DCT ISSUANCE


DCT is not just a cryptocurrency. Representing a fuel to the network it is a software tool which makes DECENT work. DCT holders will be able to trade the currency for other assets as other cryptocurrencies or digital content. Once the DECENT Platform is launched DCT will be available for trading or usage across the publishing and buying process on the Platform. DCT also serves as an anti-spam protection and reward for seeders/miners (or publishers in DECENT terminology).

After the launch of the final release of DECENT Network, DCT will be issued according to the ICO results.
DCT sold in the ICO will be 70% of the total DCT distributed. Part of this will be also pre-mine funds that will be distributed in following way:

10% for the DECENT Foundation
2% for the Investment Fund
1,000,000 DCT for DECENT Bounty program
3,000,000 DCT for Pre-software marketing.

The initial value of DCT will increase simultaneously with the Software Sale progress.
Which means the early participants get more for smaller value and apply for higher bonuses.

DECENT ICO 50% Bonus was extended from the originally planned 10M DCT to the first 10 hours of the ICO.
Our decision to change it was based on the initial issues with registration.
The bonus ended 11:00pm GMT on the September 11, 2016.
10% bonus of the first week ended on September 18, 11pm GMT.

The wrong-displayed bonuses were adjusted manually later on.

TECHNICAL DETAILS


DECENT combines several functional layers. One layer takes care of distributed storage.
We build on the results of the Tribler project, adding own extensions, such as the proof of retrievability,
to provide highly scalable, anonymously distributed, guaranteed storage that automatically scales based on the content popularity.


DECENT WHITEPAPER


The heart of the solution is, of course, the blockchain. We are designing and fine-tuning several processes and associated transactions for our use cases - publishing content, buying content and providing feedback. We use a lot of underlying cryptography inside to make everything work, just naming decryption key sharing, various zero knowledge proofs, etc. The devil is in the details, so as we are still working on technicalities, for detailed description please wait for our white paper.

Last but not least, the user experience would not be full without recommendations. Since all data are available in the blockchain, anybody can execute data mining to find the most suitable content. DECENT foundation plans to incorporate their own recommendation engine for their clients, but it is totally up to the users.

DECENT is an Open Source protocol allowing app builders to create various applications
with the functionalities and design specifications according to their needs.

Content Publishing / Buying process:


Upon creating the content an author’s client will encrypt it, possibly adding free preview, and create a content package.
This package is then anonymously shared with publishers/miners. These guys will be also given their encryption key shares.

The author’s wallet is debited the certain amount of tokens for publishing, which will be later distributed (based on the proof of retrievability)
to the publishers for storing the content. This way the miners are incentivized to share their disk space with the community.

The second use case is buying the content. The consumer browses the available offers, e.g. based on recommendation engine suggestions,
and can check the free preview. When he/she decides to buy it, he/she will also download the encrypted part, pay for it and retrieve the encryption keys
via the blockchain. Technically this is the trickiest part where we use several interesting techniques to avoid frauds
such as blockchain-based smart contracts with escrow and ZKP.

Last but not least, consumers can provide feedback to the author in the form of rating. This is also a blockchain-based transaction.

Yes, it incorporates own tokens, which are mined with PoS. Of course, the storage and distribution of others' content is incentivized, partly by publishing fees, partly by newly mined coins.

Hi,

the initial tokens will be pre-mined by the foundation. Part of it will go to pre-sale and part of it will be used by the foundation for the further  promotion and development (e.g. we will sponsor interesting application projects).

After initial pre-mining the system switches to proof-of-stake. The number of new coins will be based on number of transactions, so the inflation will follow the growing interest in the service.

Actually, things are going very well. The research part is done, the development is ongoing, by the end of the month we should have internal alfa version ready - we did amazing job realising our goals and pretty soon we will publish our results to the public.
