Description: Learn how blockchains are being used as distributed databases and to power a new generation of smart contracts, encapsulating code and data in a trustless distributed network. Find out the strengths and weaknesses of this approach compared to traditional SQL and NoSQL databases. Through a series of presentations and hands-on sessions, run though the basics of blockchains and build your own smart contract! Free crypto-currency for all attendees!

Pre-requisites: Although attendees can get value out of of this course just by attending, it is best consumed interactively. If you wish to participate in the hand-on sessions, then please bring a machine with "Ethereum" and "Solidity" pre-installed.
