I think the best giveaway you can give for Bitcoiners is Bitcoin. Look at the IBM "its raining Bitcoin" thing that they did, it was a massive success. So get a decent giveaway of Bitcoin going and you'll keep people going back every year.

We've been thinking of who we advertise too for our CoinFest event.

The event will be on the 8th and 9th of April 2016 we are currently in final discussions with a few venues in Manchester. Definitely we have good development but I hope we keep it up.

Well I can accept bitcoin to get stuff printed is not a problem if you are looking for some to be printed off with designs. Rough cost is about £10 to £15 per 1,000 flyers done depending on design, quality and content.

Got people scheduled to travel from all over the world including Africa and the USA to speak at the event but details will be released in the new year at the same time tickets will be available (Of course these are free of charge)

Nice and not sure what happened to bitcoinmanchester if their still doing their bit or sort of slowed down as not many went to the meetings and am ure things slown down and come to a halt unless am missing something out that their still running but a lot quieter as don't generally hear much of em  at the moment. If they have stopped maybe you should take over their monthly slot and have something that is sorted every month or so. Still got my eye set on the coinfest tho will look forward to it:)

Everyone does love free. Even to come to the event and not get charged like many others do is a fricking joke. Yeah ok I understand and get that they are fees for reasons but they don't outweigh the cost on some of them and you still got everything else to pay for. Its more like everyone paying for the event than them hosting it and making it cheap, Hence why no one ends up turning up. Keep it free or small and you got a winner.

You are right, we did have a meetup in December, here is our announcement. Jonny Bitcoin was talking about BitShares and we had cake   We put up some photos on our Meetup.com event (this is the first of our events we've used Meetup for).

The biggest obstacle to regular meetups is organising speakers. We've had some good ones in the recent past, including Judith Aldridge of Manchester University talking about Silk Road and darknet markets, and Gulnar Hasnain of the Green Party talking about Bitcoin in politics.  We are limited by the number of potential speakers in (or able to travel to) Manchester. What partly compounds the problem is that I am currently living in Poland, and Max is currently in Glasgow, which makes coming back to run events much more difficult, and unfortunately rules out us filling in when we have no speaker due to the time and cost involved.

In short, we're doing the best we can given our constraints. If you have any ideas for sessions we could run (topics, speakers, etc), please let us know! We can be reached at hello@bitcoinmanchester.org.uk.

Sounds good to me as some places do not understand the ruling on vaping ad harmless lol. Nice! It's good to keep things decentralized. Hosting one of the biggest events is a huge responsibility because you have to keep that in mind. It would be cool if we set up some kind of portal where UK attendees could look into other events via video feed... we tried this last year, but it was very experimental and resources were more limited. I think you can handle it!

Nice to see more things happening with this and also based in Manchester. The guy thats making a docu of eMunie is pretty certain he can make it for both days, just waiting for a confirm that him and his team will be able to make the trip up.

So worst case, you'll be able to grab some footage from him.  He usually brings a couple of guys, so there should be plenty non-eMunie stuff too.

Bitcoin Education Sessions @ CoinFest UK

Hi Guys,

Matthew from Portsmouth Crypto will be running a group of Bitcoin education sessions throughout the CoinFestUK event, the topics will include:

- Basics of Bitcoin & the Blockchain
- Navigating the Bitcoin ecosystem
- Wallets, security & cold storage

Each topic will run for ½ hr with a full session of all the topics running 1½ Hrs. The session times we have scheduled are:

Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) seems a good one. According to them they're first major charity in the UK or Ireland to accept Bitcoin. They run a pilot Bitcoin donation program, so it's not available from the main 'donation' page, but you can see it here:

They have dedicated address, so it'll be easy to prove that the funds have been donated.

But it doesn't have to be UK charity, there are some worthy international ones, like BitGive: http://bitgivefoundation.org/

Or, if you want to do such auction, you could let the winner choose his favourite charity, providing it's registered and well known, not some website created overnight.

The reason CoinFest events are always free is because we don't just want to target cryptocurrency fans. We want to reach non-believers, who don't have an existing stake in crypto's success that would justify a contribution to the marketing effort. This is just an idea (and I know it goes against one of the fundermental rules of CoinFest!) but I think it has some justice as an idea that 'might' work.

What if we charge visitors were charged a £1 fee for a ticket for CoinFest but on attending CoinFest they receive this £1 back in Bitcoin as a paper wallet.

Speakers:
- Nearly all our speaker slots are full and we have requests to process. We have discussed with some speakers having shorter presentation times (30 minutes) to fit more slots in.
- We are aiming to have all speaker presentations recorded, these will then be edited and uploaded to our website

Activities:
- We are working with a partner / sponsor to run a developer 'Hackathon'. All details will be released several weeks before the event. If you like fixing code (Wallet source code) and would like to claim some BTC then keep an eye out for further details.
- We are aiming on running Mining education sessions, with the same set up as Bitcoin education sessions but focused on Mining / Mining basics
- We are working with the awesome Dev from the Battlecoin.org game, we will have a UK based server set up for faster game for our event!

Raffles:
- As at our last event to be entered into a raffle attendees must grab themselves a ticket (Free of charge). As some of you may have already seen (On our twitter) we are already building our list of goodies for the raffles but there is much more to come.

Documentary:
- As we did last year we would like to show a Bitcoin documentary at the event (The last events documentary was very well received) but with all the speaker requests we have received / processed we may have to leave a documentary out of this years event.

Crypto Art Gallery:
- As some of you know I am also hosting Crypto Art Gallery and some of the awesome artists who will be present at the art gallery will also be showing their artwork at CoinFestUK!

Looking at rescheduling it to Sep at the earliest!

We hope you are all well and safe! We've got quite a few updates since the last post and as you can understand developments are ongoing!

We are getting updates from our local council on guidelines and restrictions each week and are keeping a keen eye on it all!

Since our last post the main updates are:

- The Renaissance Manchester Hotel, Blackfriars St, M3 2EQ has CLOSED! We've switched to our previous years venue of Manchester Conference Centre. We had issues with the Manchester Conference Centre last year with them not providing the service we expected but we know believe they are now under new management, so that's good!

- With the Renaissance Manchester Hotel closing we had to switch the event to new dates, so with the support of the sponsors, hosts, ticket holders CoinFestUK 2020 will now take place on October 23rd, 24th & 25th 2020 (Subject to the COVID situation allowing us to!)

We are still getting interest from speakers, sponsors, hosts and people interested in attending - so that is positive!

Yes all looking positive at the minute, plenty of plans being built for different scenarios, may be time wasted when we get to the event but good to have them ready.

Ticket count is rising which is also a positive sign and a lot of work being carried out by the venue including decontamination chambers, rapid testing which will hopefully add another layer of safety to the event (If it’s still needed by then).

We’ve already had requests for hotel / flight booking (After working out what the country will be like after Brexit!), up to now visitors from around 9 countries have confirmed they are attending, another sign people are keeping positive.

This is the last CoinFestUK event to be hosted in the UK.

I (CryptoBates) will continue to organise events but anything this size will be co-organised from now on. Way to much stress mentally and financially!

This was our biggest event yet, over 75% of the total tickets claimed (4100+ tickets claimed) were scanned in!

This is sad news. But I will say hats off to you as you’ve done such a great job over the years. You’ve promoted crypto in so many ways and have increased adoption immeasurably. Thankyou for all the hard work and dedication , but am genuinely saddened that the UK will miss out in the future.

I hope we have made a change (for the positive) in the UK but honestly this isn't the end of Crypto focused events for me/CBG just need to find a co-organiser and get a good 'cash' reserve for future events (Already in the planning!)
