http://digitalmoneytimes.com/crypto-news/several-major-bitcoin-startups-favor-bip-101/

The Bitcoin community is still a few light years away from seeing a consensus being reached on whether or not BIP 101 and the 8MB block size will become the new norm for Bitcoin in the future.  Bitcoin Core and Bitcoin XT developers are still debating who is right and who isn’t, but that’s not keeping various major Bitcoin companies from expressing their opinion either.

Just to show fickle these things can be, from the article based on a declaration dated 24th August 2015...

Some of world’s leading Bitcoin startups – including BitPay, Xapo, Blockchain.info and KnCMiner – have reached a consensus to implement the BIP 101 change proposed by Gavin Andresen.

Clarifying; we support bigger blocks and like both BIP100 and BIP101 - we believe either of those two avenues would propel Bitcoin for all. - @kncminer, 27 Aug 2015

Bitcoin companies are showing a tendency of flipping back and forth between decisions made earlier. A follow-up article will come, don't worry Smiley

Riiiiiiight.

BIP 101 Support as of this post is 14.8% of all nodes.

Core Support as of this post is 85.2% of all nodes.

I guess people like writing stories when they're bored...

Counting nodes is futile regardless of whether they support or contradict a given story on these block size discussions, as node counts can easily be bumped up using either spoofing or even just launching whole batches of perfectly valid nodes as a single actor.

That's part of the hilarity - even if they could cheat, they still don't have anything close to a consensus on the network.

Its even fallen recently, lol.

If you look at the numbers, you can see also that the XT nodes were > 80% brand new nodes. The numbers of other versions did not decrease by the same amount that XT nodes increased by.

The tactics of the XT team are religious in both presentation and fervor: dishonest and unrelenting. It's literally like dealing with round the clock Jehovah's Witnesses.

All that matters:

By "matters", do you mean "inconsequential"? This is a 100% non-binding poll. The miners can indicate whatever they like, including confusing their competition by voting for a proposal they don't intend to support.

Current winning proposal is "null", which interestingly enough is always the outcome of a non-binding vote
