They're so stupid, I could easily tell you to get a job but there are other things you can do online which will earn you alot more.
Checkout /r/beermoney for example.
Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

No one's using faucets in place of a job (it's economically not possible.) People use faucets because it's "free" bitcoin and "free" has a crazy allure to it...it pulls people in. Also, a lot of the faucet sites have a gambling aspect which gives people the opportunity to earn more.

1. Freebitco.in: Has a lottery each week, which pays 10 different people various amounts up to close 1BTC AND it as a gambling/wagering option

2. Xapofaucet (see my profile for a link): Has a daily bonus for people that use the site daily and has a mystery bonus on random claims so you could get 1-100% added to your claim...again, it's like gambling

They're easy, they're free...what's not to understand?

The most of the people who use faucet are beginners in bitcoin and hope that with this method will have some bitcoin. Then are attracted by the free money. faucets give free bitcoins and this have a psychological effect that make them to use their time to take those free "money".

Its cheap "cash" and without a good asic, they tend to earn  more there than mining.

Hi there, I'm from South Africa.
This means I'm poor, I guess.

They use faucets because they are in a well and they think that's their only world.
They use it thinking they will earn something big, will become rich by doing faucet thing and might get some COINS for doing that.
Stupids don't even know that they are already giving their complete time and wasting their electricity before something which isn't worth anything if compared to what they are dedicating.

I agree that the payout is too low but people use faucet to get free Satoshi. I also agree that doing other online job such as downloading app is better. However, in the future you will see more innovated revenue sharing site like mine which give out 0.015 BTC to user - http://bitrevenues.com/. Smiley.

So sad! This profile does not appear as the #1 result (on anonymous) Google searches anymore.

They are quite good for new people to learn how to use the wallet and such. Other than that, I don't see much use for it...

They can be fun to play with when your getting into Bitcoin
(Kind of funny though that when I first started using facuets the tiny dust values started to become tangible amounts before the price crashed and it went back down in the long run, those penny's can become nickels if the price moves enough ha-ha.

For collecting small amounts to cover up the transaction fees?  i know that faucet really gives small reward and does not worth the reward they give, but hey it's still a "free" money for some people.

the free thing is what makes people farm faucets while as you also said, it's barely worth the time. but for some people even the satoshi dust is a little bit of extra income, and combine a week of these tiny rewards, and some one in a third world country has got a nice extra revenue stream.

When I started with Bitcoin two years ago, it was already too late to mine. The only I knew at that time was to use faucets, which I used everyday for a few months, earning a tad more than dust. So the reasons are:
- only way to earn Bitcoins I knew of
- simplest way to get Bitcoins
- get Bitcoins for free

That was for me and plus, I don't use faucets anymore.

Because they want Bitcoin, and it's so easy to earn it with Faucet even it's just a small amount.
And also, because they don't know about Signature Campaign that can give them a lot more of Bitcoin. Cheesy

faucet used to be profitable

I think it's a no-brainer Mr. Moneybags.  Roll Eyes ..... You walk down the street and you see a penny.... you pick it up. You walk 2 meter further and you

see another penny.... you pick it up.... this continues for the next two streets ..... At the end of the block, you walk into the corner shop, and you

buy yourself a Coca Cola with those pennies. Get it? It's free money ..... You can use it for parking money or a free drink... it's as simple as that.

It's also FUN... when you bored.  Roll Eyes

Faucets are great to get some small amounts of Bitcoin for Beginners to get used to how transactions work for instance. They can play with their wallets a bit and get a feeling for how this is different to other payment methods. At least this is what I used faucets for back in the days.

I agree and disagree. Some people must be trying to use faucets as a job because some just seemingly spend their entire time trying to get as much dust as possible from as many faucets as they can. If they had jobs they wouldn't bother wasting their time like this. I agree that most newbs just use them because they think its the easiest way to get free coins but the sooner they realise they're wasting their time the better.
